Q: What's the best advice you can give to songwriters?

A: Write music because you love MUSIC, not because you want to be rich and famous. Focus on what is in your heart and soul, what you want to tell others, instead of focusing on what you THINK other people want to hear. It is nearly impossible to make ANY living in music, and if you got a big recording deal, your songs would be molded into whatever the record company wanted. This is a major dilemma for songwriters, especially those who write untypical songs, but I assure you that you will be HAPPIER knowing you were TRUE to your art, rather than sell out, and yet still not achieve any fame or fortune.
