“... the band Skies in Chaos ... performed before (Orioles) batting practice. Nothing like a 30-minute clubhouse concert to get everyone fired up. (Buck) Showalter was extremely impressed, and as you know, he's a pretty harsh music critic.”
“... Matusz went 6-0 with a 1.57 ERA over his final eight starts and posted a 2.18 ERA in 11 starts after Showalter arrived.
Was Showalter the key? Was it Kranitz? Was it his entrance music?
Matusz switched for a third time this summer, using the song "Secrets" from (the) band Skies In Chaos (then Loose Cannon Trio) during his last six or seven home starts.
"Blake asked if I wanted to use one of his songs," Matusz recalled. "I said, 'I'd love to. I'm not winning with the song I'm using right now.' I changed it and I had good success with the new song."”
“Skies In Chaos - The name might not jump out to you like some others, but if you have been to Camden Yards in the past couple of years, chances are that you have heard them, as they have been a band that Brian Matusz likes to have played when he goes to the mound. Blake, Dustin and Won are big Orioles fans and frequent visitors to Camden Yards. I have seen these guys several times, and they put on a tremendous show. They recently played a packed Ottobar for 98 Rock's Noise In The Basement show and headlined a show at Rams Head Live recently. These guys have big things ahead of them, in my opinion. They even got the chance to play for the Orioles clubhouse last year. You can check out their antics on Twitter: @skiesinchaos, @blakerockmd and @dustinwiltrout.”
