Cody Gold Enterprises in association with The Continental Club is proud to bring the sounds of real rock and roll and twisted roots to Downtown Houston on Friday May 27th with a stacked bill featuring Central Texas cowpunk legends the Hickoids, Pat Todd and the Rankoutsiders (direct from Los Angeles) and H-Town's own Hard Luck Revival.
The Hickoids have been blowing minds and ear drums for over thirty years with a sound that folds a variety of Southern American styles into what many contemporary listeners have come to recognize as "roadhouse punk" -- musically adept and rocking with an emphasis on showmanship and zero f*cks given attitude.
Pat Todd is of course the former lead singer of The Lazy Cowgirls, a legendary and long-running band on the underground circuit. The (relatively) newer Rankoutsiders picked right up where the 'girls left off - having released singles and albums at breakneck pace for a variety of labels around the world. It's Pure rock'n'roll infused with melody, punk energy and some snarl that owes as much to Bob Dylan, The Beatles and Rolling Stones as it does to The Seeds, Sonics and MC5.
Houston's own Hard Luck Revival are veterans of the local punk scene who have expanded their musical horizons while staying true to their beginnings. Their original material is energetic, rootsy and danceable with nods to classic country, conjunto and more.
