STANDING STRONG
This will be a unique evening of poetry and jazz from different countries, with film on the big screen of the much-loved author and activist, the late Maya Angelou. The event is called:
Standing Strong for Women, the Environment and Social Justice
Please join us for this multi-media evening of poetry and music on: Making Change and Standing Strong. The evening, coordinated by Gill Hague, poet and activist on violence against women for 45 years, features poems, films and music about women becoming stronger, about social justice and about our environment. It includes:
 Short films and poems by Maya Angelou
Blues and jazz by Dave Merrick and Natalie Davis of Small DaysPoetry about women in Uganda, India, Greece from Gill
Poetry by video about women in the Middle East and Iraqi Kurdistan, by world-renowned Kurdish poet, Nazand Begikhani
Poetry from acclaimed local writer, Rachel Bentham
Native American Flute by Dave
The evening is in aid of TreeSisters and Mifumi (domestic violence project), Uganda
