Collaborate!! nights feature 2 artists from the iHearMusic community. Each artist plays a one hour set and then for the finale the 2 artists collaborate by bringing their unique talents together. One plus one is three!

Thursday May 4 marks our 12th Collaborate!! night at LazyBones Lounge Marrickville and we are proud to present:

MASHA’S LEGACY
Groovy, sophisticated and thought provoking Masha’s Legacy – a unique synergy of expert performers from a diversity of musical and cultural backgrounds will explore frontiers of creative expression while maintaining a deep respect for the traditions from which drawn. Lead by Musical Director Stuart Vandegraaff, the performance is an integrated multi-sensory experience of sound and movement built upon deep groove, oriental sounds, compelling improvisation and the essence of expressive originality.

Masha’s Legacy’s critically acclaimed debut album Safe Haven was released on 25 January 2017. This recording is a significant artistic statement on multiculturalism, interfaith and the unique collaborative possibilities available in contemporary Australia. Tonight’s performance will feature:
Stuart Vandegraaff – MD, compositions & arrangements, saxophones, clarinet, Arabic nays
Christopher Soulos – electric bass, FX
Mahammd Lelo – Q’noon
Adem Yilmaz – daf, darabukka, cajon, congas, percussion

ZIGGY TOCKUSS
Ziggy Tockuss is a Hip-Hop artist from Sydney's inner west. Since holding down the Foundry 616 jazz hip-hop jams for the better part of 2015, Ziggy has been performing weekly at local events, whether its hosting a full house jam or performing solo, Ziggy commands the stage with a weaponised vocal Thu'um that is hard to ignore.
After his latest release "ZiggyRaps", Ziggy supported the Australian Hip-Hop veteran Drapht at the Metro theatre for his Seven Mirrors tour and since then has been front-manning for the always pumping Lamb Jam at Black sheep in Newtown, freestyling with finesse for hours on end!

Audiences are raving about the recent sell-out shows of Close to Forever, an exciting project from seasoned performers Dale Caldwell (Voices from the Vacant Lot, Martenitsa) and Ben Fink (The Whitlams, Lior, Christa Hughes, Stiff Gins, Waiting for Guinness, Voices from the Vacant Lot). Sharing their handcrafted interpretations of songs of love and loss, sorrow and joy, they transport you into a world of lush harmonies, beautiful silences and timeless melodies.

Armed with just their voices, one guitar and haunting atmospheric effects, they will share original works, favourite rarities and uncovered gems. Anything from Tim Buckley and PJ Harvey to Nina Simone and Armenian traditional laments.

This is a rare opportunity to share the music of Dale and Ben up close as they perform Close To Forever in the cozy Level 1 Lounge.
