The Johnny Parry Chamber Orchestra have release five albums of alternative songs. Johnny’s distinctive baritone voice immediately sets the tone of being something far less classical to that which was performed the previous weekends, bringing to mind Tom Waits or Nick Cave.
Though in most bands where you would normally find guitars, you will find soaring strings, woodwind and brass all meticulously underpinning a back drop of films made by artist Andy Holden. However make no mistake this is ‘a band’, and underneath the unconventional textures and images is the beating heart of the pop song. Its this far more personal side of the work that will perfectly juxtapose and compliment the University's performance.
