MORE ABOUT YES:
YES (Youth Empowered Society) prevents and eliminates youth homelessness through the synergy of youth and ally partnerships.
YES's vision is for all Baltimore’s youth to easily access supportive services and stable housing to become powerful in their own lives.
Through the operation of Baltimore’s only drop-in center for homeless youth, that is safe, youth-
friendly, peer-driven, and comprehensive, YES:
●Provides urgently-needed direct services to youth experiencing homelessness through trauma-informed peer and ally support;
●Develops the leadership and employment readiness of youth who have experienced homelessness;
●Partners with youth to advocate for systems change.
On an average night at the YES Drop-In Center, 25-35 youth meet their basic needs for food, clothing, hygiene products, laundry, storage, computer and phone usage, and YES provides a dedicated and safe place to receive mail, clean up, and rest. Youth participants establish supportive relationships with Peer Case Managers, allied staff, and health and legal practitioners who support youth to set goals, create Action Plans that break their goals into discrete tasks, and make and sustain connections to long-term resources. During FY 2014 (July 2013-June 2014), YES served 213 unique youth through more than 4,000 drop-ins and contacts.
YES also provides training, leadership opportunities, and employment to youth so they can safely and effectively serve their peers and achieve meaningful, livable-wage employment after their time with YES. Currently, YES employs five formerly homeless youth. YES is a program of Fusion Partnerships, Inc. a 501(c)3 organization that serves as the fiscal sponsor and provides administrative support and financial management for more than 60 programs working for social justice.
Music Makes Life Better
“Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve." - Martin Luther King Jr.
Music Makes Life Better is an ongoing project by Jammin' Java owners, staff, and friends to give back to the community through music and service.
This concert series is part of the overall aim to raise money, awareness, and primarily volunteers for great organizations within our community. We are always looking for ways to give back, and we know you are, too. Through our partnerships with local charities we make it easy to connect with great causes and find opportunities to volunteer.
We've created the space for you to support a great local cause, listen to great live music, and learn about the ways to get involved and give back. Come on out!
