“Ronnie Van Zant often referred flippantly to his hometown Jacksonville, FL. as "shantytown." His nephews Ronnie and Robbie Morris took that, sliced off the "t," and named their band Shanytown. Guess what? They sound like Skynyrd. But their self-titled debut also demonstrates great original character. RIght off in "Redneck," a lifestyle gets turbo charged, Lil Ronnie and Kevin Williams' guitars like chainsaws to logs, a little Pat Travers and Van Halen in the buzz. But soulful? All of it is, amid the roar. "Peace of Mind" probably defines the band best, the attitude and overall Southern rock tribute borne out in a future classic. Clearly the Skynyrd legacy is one to celebrate, and these guys do it very proud. Everything about them draws me back, and as well makes me look forward. The roots of Southern rock continue to spread.”
