Sandy Hemenway began his piano playing career at age 11 for the Hamilton Baptist Church.
He won numerous musical awards in High School, including participation in the 4-H State Talent showcase at age 13.
In 1979, he won the State Beta Club talent show playing an original composition, "You're the One". After graduation from Roanoke High in 1980, Sandy attended UNC, where he studied broadcasting.
Like so many do, Sandy drifted away from church in his 20s. He also drifted away from music, while going back to NC State to study computer programming in his late 30s.
Eventually Sandy married Bobbi, (his favorite lyricist), and was drawn to Unity Church of the Triangle in his late 30s, where he not only reconnected with God, but also with his musical gifts. Bobbi and Sandy agreed to go their separate ways in 2013.
From about 2000 to 2010 he was pianist at UCT, and released a CD of original New Thought music, "The Road Home", in 2004. In 2008, he stepped in as Music Director for about a year at UCT.
Sandy is currently working on another CD and plays piano at several New Thought churches across North Carolina
