“Megan describes “Darkness” as a portrayal of “Young Megan” learning to express herself through lyric and song with a desire to help herself and hopefully others who have suffered through depression. “Darkness” is about a dark period of my life. I suffered from depression as a result of a string of unpleasant events. Songwriting gave me a way to express and process my emotions.  ”Darkness” represents a recurring nightmare I had as a young girl, walking around an old house with furniture covered with drapes. There was a constant feeling of impending doom, of being in a dangerous situation. I tried to capture the essence of that foreboding in the song.” A third-person storytelling element can be found on the tracks “It’s not Everyday” and “Liar,” a song about the impact dishonesty has on a relationship: “It’s spoken through the eyes of someone who is trying to encourage the protagonist to leave and be free of a bad situation.” ”
