“Excerpt from TrueFire Fireside Chat with Rob Garland. 4. Who’s been your biggest influence as a musician? What is the best advice you ever received on your musical journey? I would say my biggest influence as a musician has been watching and playing with other musicians. I started playing in bands when I was very young in the UK and often played with musicians that were older than me who I looked up to and tried to learn from. I've been fortunate to play with some amazing musicians and playing with them has been very inspiring, I am also lucky to now be living in LA where I can go to a place like The Baked Potato (Studio City jazz club) and watch some of the greatest musicians in the world from a few feet away - that is very inspiring! I have received some great literal music advice from other musicians and teachers, but the one that comes to mind is Larry Carlton who said "Just go get 'em Rob!"”
