Robert F Bogaert – the self-proclaimed “Interstellar Troubadour” – began what he describes with tongue-in-cheek as his “musical non-career" back in 1970, while still in high school. Since launching his “Friends Along The Way” tours in 2017, he has visited 33 states and performed in 29 of those, with hopefully many more to come. He has sung his songs on stages from Pensacola to Pittsburgh, Savannah to San Diego, Austin TX to Austin MN, and Chicago to New Orleans. Over the course of his life, he has now sung his songs in 32 states and 2 Canadian provinces.
In 2023, he recorded and released THREE compact discs of original songs under the blanket title "Project 70" in honor of his 70th birthday in November of that year. Volume 1 (The Lake Of St Confusion) consisted of relatively serious songs written between 2017 and 2023. Volume 2 (I'm Only Serious) was filled with songs written between 2018 and 2023 that are anything BUT serious! And Volume 3 (This Is How It Starts) brought 15 previously unrecorded originals written between 1967 and 1976.
2024’s Friends Along The Way Tour (Qwestword Ho!) found Bob performing in TX, LA, MS, IL, KS, CO, MT, WY and MN, including some unscheduled stops wherever he found a stage and mic available! In 2025, the goal, as usual, was to play as many spaces in as many places as possible, but lack of a vehicle severely limited the opportunities. Bob is back on wheels for 2026, and picking up where he left off, with him having shows scheduled in MS, IL, ND, WY, ID, and CO so far, with hopefully more to come. The goal for Friends Along The Way 2026 (The Finish Empty Tour) is to not only visit all 16 of the Lower 48 states where he has never performed, but to indeed take to the stage in all of those as well, singing songs from his latest CD, "The Divine Whatever," as well as selections from the 200-ish covers in his repertoire. Still making music, still seeing the world, and still making friends along the way.
