I’m producing a “Gospel Soul” project that brings a fresh new outlook to the gospel music scene—a blend of soul and R&B with uplifting, godly stories. I started out singing in a local vocal group at 15, then connected with some of the best neighborhood musicians to form the band “Jazzy.” We played all over the NY and NJ metro area, then linked up with Taana Gardner on her hit song “Heartbeat” and toured with acts like Kool and the Gang, Peabo Bryson, and the Sugar Hill Gang. After that, we moved to Washington, D.C., and played on the Go-Go circuit for a few years. Eventually, I moved to Atlanta, where I’ve been fine-tuning my Gospel Soul sound.
