Remembering Venice / Press

“Things started to pick up when Remembering Venice took the stage. This Sandusky-based band, which you’ve likely heard of before, has been playing together for years. It showed: they’ve got some serious musical chops. Lead singer Mel Burns, who also plays guitar, has a great voice, reminding me of Rob Thomas at times. Their energetic performance was energetic and exciting, and they built a really good rapport with the crowd. Another plus (at least, for me): most of the tunes they played were originals, with the exception of a great rendition of Stone Temple Pilots’s “Push.”...”

“SANDUSKY A local alternative-rock band is driving 500 miles to prove one thing -- they've got talent. Remembering Venice, a four-man band from Sandusky, is in New York today in hopes of scoring a spot on the NBC show, "America's Got Talent." "It's not all about winning," said Rob Stein, 26, the band's drummer, although a top prize of $1 million is at stake. "We want to get our music out there." The band recently submitted to NBC a videotape of one of their live performances, Stein said. The show's producers scour the videotapes and invite people to a series of tryouts, one of which is today at Javits Convention Center in New York. Remembering Venice got a return call and an invitation to audition at 11 a.m. today, Stein said. The band has to foot the transportation and hotel bill for its visit, but it's all fine with Stein, of Sandusky, and his comrade rockers...”

“The celebrity list includes appearances and performances by Fat Joe, pop artist Jeannie Ortega, local band Remembering Venice, MTV host Sam Sarpong ("Yo Mamma") and "Laguna Beach" season three cast members Breanna Conrad, Alexandra "Lexie" Brianne Contursi and Raquel "Rocky" Nicole Donatelli. There also will be 60 local high school area models for the fashion portion of the show. Bradley said they hope to raise upwards of $50,000 toward the scholarship fund...”

“Every band's goal is to get that legendary record deal. While many may never get discovered by a talent agent or get their demo tapes to the ears of the big shots at record companies, there are the few bands that do make it. Local Christian rock band Remembering Venice beat the odds and was blessed with a record label. Members include Mel Burns, lead guitar/singer; Robert Stein, drums; Scott Mitchel, back-up; and Alex Wetzel, bass guitar. The band's mission statement, "A music ministry focused on giving people the hope that comes from having Christ in their lives," helps guide them along the way. "Spiritually, God gave us the vision and the path to pursue a career," Stein said....”
