Pinky KillaCorn / Press

“Pinky Killacorn, the rising star hailing from the Uptown area of North West, Washington DC has always had a spark in her that proved she would one day explode into something big. She started out as a little girl, street savvy and rambunctious. Pinky was affectionately taken under the wing of the boys and adopted as one of the guys. She made mistakes big and small and she was rough around the edges but despite her play time she was always a passionate writer and an excellent student. Pinky was hand picked by the great Nikki Giovanni to be highlighted in a poetry competition as a young girl. Pinky fondly recalls overcoming her fear of public speaking that day and sharing a thought provoking poem with an eager audience. Shortly after, Pinky began recording in the studio with friends for fun. The response to her unique voice and flow was overwhelming. People that showed little emotion embraced Pinky and her sound. She had always loved music and it flowed freely through her home as a child.”

In 2006, Pinky quickly developed a reputation for her tenacious freestyles while hosting parties and taking over events by engaging party goers with her killa style of word play. As I stopped through our first event upon returning back to my hometown for a short visit, we stumbled across the cool #HippeLifeKrew rapper. The DMV’s favorite comedian Eddie Bryant hosted a one night only event which featured a slew of the city’s most recognizable local talents including Pinky. She came through and commanded the stage delivering vibrant lyrics and style.”
