PHIL PERRY the former lead singer and songwriter of the classic soul group - the MONTCLAIRS has since become an internationally renown Concert & Recording Artist, who has recorded a number of solo albums.
As an ASCAP songwriter, and a member of SAG/AFTRA, PERRY showcases a vast discography of original songs. He has covered 80+ songs written by other songwriters, which he has recorded in their honor.
For nearly 60 years in both JAZZ & RnB genres. PERRY is known for his multi-octave voice, and his soulful and emotionally captivating stage performances internationally.
In 2019 PHIL PERRY was rewarded for his then 50+ years of music excellence, as an Inductee into the RnB Hall of Fame in Detroit MI.

PERRY was nearly 17 when his first song was recorded - "HEY YOU DON'T FIGHT IT"- as a member of the soul vocal group The MONTCLAIRS, writing & singing lead on dozens of classic recordings
Born in East St. Louis, Illinois in 1952, PERRY was a member of the MONTCLAIRS from 1971 to 1975 and appeared on such recordings as "Dreaming's Out of Season," "Prelude to a Heartbreak," and "Begging's Hard to Do."
The second MONTCLAIRS album was recorded in 1974, but was 'put on the shelf' by the record company until 2001 when it mysteriously appeared on numerous YouTube vintage soul platforms. Titled 'A HORSE WITH WINGS', the album is now being revived and promoted as the majority of the 'lost songs' were written by a young man age 16-21 years old - 50 years later.
After the MONTCLAIRS disbanded, PERRY relocated to Los Angeles joining forces w/the talented guitarist & co-lead singer,KEVIN SANLIN. They released two albums as PERRY AND SANLIN (Capitol), and a PERRY original "JUST TO MAKE YOU HAPPY". 'PERRY is featured singing "JUST LIKE MAGIC" solo, which he wrote with the legendary LES MCCAN on Capitol in 1980.
Once in California, his talents got the attention of the Hollywood music community, and led Perry to write 3 songs for ARETHA FRANKLIN, several for NOEL POINTER as well as the duo recordings with SANLIN.
By the early '80s, Perry had launched a lucrative career as a freelance songwriter, producer, and studio singer, appearing on albums with many luminaries.
In 1991, PHIL PERRY released his FIRST SOLO album on Capitol Records - THE HEART OF THE MAN.
PERRY has released recordings in every decade SINCE 1969, starting with the song recorded by the MONTCLAIRS when he was 17 - HEY YOU DON'T FIGHT IT.
