Philly2000/PhillyBlunt2000 was born in Flint, Michigan in 1981 and later lived down in the "dirty south" (Georgia). Living there for a decade, it is where he picked up on rap music.
The music of Tag Team and Mc Hammer was the first of Rap Philly had ever heard. He said, it was in Ft. Stewart, Georgia where he learned his "swagga".
Having had the opportunity to attend an 80 percent African American school in Glennville, Georgia was a great learning experience for Philly and he claims that the influence helped to shape the rapper he is today.
Later, as he grew, Philly began listening to 2Pac, Dayton Family, Eminem, and Bone Thugs N Harmony. This is when he knew that he wanted to be a rapper. He felt it was a great way to express himself. A way to vent the everyday stressors that life dealt him.
Philly began freestyling over songs that were playin on the radio. He remembers driving down the road, bumpin the CD player, rapping to the songs. It helped him to build upon the skill and soon he was able to show it off at the woods parties in Northeast Michigan, where he was living.
Philly's first performance was at a talent show with his group (including his brother) in 2000 at the Tawas area high school. The show as a success as the group performed "Back That Ass Up" by Juvenile. It was a rewarding experience, Philly recalls, as he remembers everyone dancing to the number.
After many years of writing songs and studying the "rapper life," Philly began recording his music using an simple internet chat mic and the Adobe Audition platform.
Since then, Philly has made 12 albums (underground) and has utilized the SoundClick gateway to boost his career.
