I started taking an interest in music from an early age. My uncle was the world famous Blackpool Tower organist Reginald Dixon and the whole family were involved in music one way or another. I received classical training for the piano and guitar, but I had very little patience for this and much preferred to play by ear. I was lead guitarist for a sheffield band in the sixties and then family commitments took over my life. It was when my daughter Beki reached her teens that I discovered she had developed a very good singing voice and I started writing songs for her to perform. We entered some of these into the UK songwriting contest and achieved finalist and semi-final places on several occasions. She was the lead vocalist for the Lounge Lizards, a Sheffield band for a while, but now does occasional solo performances. Meanwhile, in the past few years I have collaborated with some extremely talented singer songwriters which I’ve found to be such rewarding experiences.
