About Shoutcast 'Morgantown West Virginia!': Check out the internet radio station playing music from artists who lived in Morgantown + others: On Shoutcast Radio http://shoutcast.com/directory/search_results.jsp?searchCrit=simple&s=morgantown The music you are listening to is mostly original compositions from artists that lived in Morgantown West Virginia 1987-2001. During those years there were so many bands that formed and got their start in the rich music scene that was Morgantown then. Many bands were touring around the country and some went to Europe. Being a college town, many people have come and gone but everyone says that the music scene where they are now is nothing compared to what existed here. Most musicians are still performing and have websites where you can check out their music. This place is very special to be able to produce the output of original music in many different genres. There were lots of places in town where artists could perform and most of us started in the open mics that were at almost every club in town. We had a few venues for shows that always had major label bands performing ,and spots for locals to open those shows. Many local bands began to draw crowds large enough to fill clubs and would happily play for a share of the door money. Then they were off to entertain the rest of the country. It was almost like another college just for music. The friendship, support, trust, and assistance between groups was amazing, and everyone went to each other's shows or let them borrow equipment when needed. There was definatly something in the air. We were all very fortunate to be here when we were and enjoy the experiences we had together. Recently I've added music from some of the regionally touring bands that regularly played in town who gave me their promo stuff. I used to book shows in clubs and had 2 two-day farm music festivals each year, as well as playing bass in shows with bands. I have music from many different genres that I've made into playlists that stream over Shoutcast and I hope you enjoy this music as much as I do. We had many bands in the hard alternative/punk/grunge genres. There were many bluegrass, blues, jamband/fusion, Jazz, Funk, Reggae, and Electronic genres. I've tried to create playlists that are good for every type of listener, which is hard to do with all the different styles. Mostly you'll hear the hard stuff, and then the softer stuff separately. I like them all, but I notice hardcore listeners go away when bluegrass comes on, and vice versa, so I separate them. Anyway, I hope you will have a good time listening to this music which is far from main stream, and the creation of some very wonderful people who never really cared about making money as much as playing their original creations in front of a crowd. Musicians are like angels on earth in a way. We help to heal the spirit, and that comes from deep within us to deep within the listener. If you would like information on any of the local bands you've heard, please email me. Many of them have websites and music available, and many still perform regularly. If you are ever in West Virginia, stop by and see Morgantown.
