HOLDING BACK

I often have to wonder about some of our underground favs in Houston. And by underground favs I mean those who are seen at all the clubs, on Hot TV, (what ever happened to that?) on the mics, and you see there names on flyers, and hear stories about how they do shows out of town, and toured with groups back in the day.

Why are these icons still at the same status they were 10 or 20 years ago? Are they to be respected for being a veteran in the industry? Or looked down upon for being at the same status still just barley making it.

Why are do many underground artist still struggling? Are you really selling out? Is local radio really enemy? I guess I dont understand why all the artist, djs, rappers, managers, just get together and have a underground radio. On a different level all together. With massive coverage and marketing.

I could go on and on about this topic. I love music. I love rap music. Music is a part of my soul. People ask me all the time who I bump the most in my ride. And why lie, all day everyday I gotta get a dose of Ro. HATTERS GOT ME WRONG!!! So think Ro is depressing. To them I say EAT A D#$K LOL...

EDUCATE YOURSELF!

I think the first step in braking into the music scene is to do your homework and educate yourself on your industry. There are so many studio gangstas walking around with marker written cds thinking they are the next thing smoking. LOL but when I ask them to name me on K-rino track they not only can not name one but say "Who is that?" I shake my head in utter shame. This wanna be rapper under the age of 21 and does not know his history.

How do we educated those who know nothing about the underground mainstream?

holla back
