Award winning Jazz Trombonist/ Arranger Earl McIntyre is known for his rich tones, incredible brass arrangements and diverse repertoire making him a “go to” for performances and arrangements ranging from classical to jazz. His new release, Brass Carnival & Tribute!, showcases many of those attributes and more in this groove eclectic set.
Born in Brooklyn N.Y. Earl received his very first musical training from his father, Eldon McIntyre, Sr. (a very gifted amateur musician). His father was passionate about music and saw to it that Earl and his brothers became proficient at playing brass instruments thus starting Earl’s journey into music. While attending the High School of Music & Art, he studied trombone with trombone greats such as John Clark, Jack Jeffers, Alan Raph and Benny Powell. It was during this period that he also developed relationships with composer William S. Fischer and tubaist Howard Johnson. He then when on to study Bass Trombone at Mannes College of Music with Simone Karasick and tuba with Thompson Hanks. As Earl’s thirst for knowledge of music grew, he started studying music arrangement with Slide Hampton and Bob Brookmeyer, as well as, studied privately with the famous brass teacher Carmine Caruso.
Soon after his studies, McIntyre’s musical journey flourished as he began playing with the likes of Gil Evans, the Apollo stage band, Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, Taj Mahal, Lester Bowie, The Band, Stevie Wonder, McCoy Tyner, Carla Bley, George Russell, Lou Rawls, Jeffrey Osborne, Deniece Williams, the Count Basie Orchestra, the Ellington Orchestra, the Thad Jones -Mel Lewis Orchestra (with whom he was associated for over 20 years) Slide Hampton, George Gruntz, the Mingus Big Band, Cecil Taylor, David Amram and the list goes on.
While credited for Trombone, Tuba and Arranger on countless award winning albums, Brass Carnival & Tribute!, will be Earl McIntyre’s very first offering of his own. When asked about his influences he responded “They say as an artist you spend your career trying to get back to your roots and I guess that's true in my case. The Tribute! band allows me to honor great musicians and family members in my own way. By dedicating and/or naming compositions after these people I hope to ignite the occasional spark of interest in them. Perhaps it's the influence of another hero/employer as well. Charles Mingus did this often and so did Thelonious Monk. The other ensemble, Brass Carnival does the same sort of thing with musical genres but as a larger ensemble.” says McIntyre.
Brass Carnival has instrumentation similar to a Salvation Army brass band coupled with Latin percussion. The influence of various kinds of vibrant carnival music colorfully painted on a Jazz canvas. Tribute! is a smaller group that pays tribute to Earl’s many influences such as Soca, R&B, Funk and various other grooves.

Marking the release of C'est Si Bon, Sylvia Bennett's new album, the American diva will enchant audiences with a concert at the Renaissance Le Parc Trocadero Hotel on April 15th, beginning at 9:00 p.m. A cash bar will be available. The concert, which is part of the hotel's RLife Live Event series, will include songs from her new all-French-language CD as well as selections from Sentimental Journey, the Grammy-nominated album she recorded with her mentor, the late Lionel Hampton. Matthew Schultz And Jim Jones Hits All The Right Notes With "Money Or Me"
Singer/songwriter Matthew Schultz collaborates with hip hop legend Jim Jones to create the highly anticipated single, "Money or Me". The single draws from the talents of both artists and feature a one of a kind blend of two seemingly unreconcilable genres, rock and hip-hop. Despite all odds, the unconventional team of Schultz and Jones succeeded in creating a hit.
"Money Or Me" showcases the best of Schultz who carried the song with his outstanding guitar solo and rich vocals. With a steady rhythm and a gorgeous piano, the song carries clear rock influences. However, the use of distortion, echoes, and other electronic techniques add a very different flavor to the mix. Jim Jones also brought his A-game to his rap vocals. Gritty and powerful, Jones instills a classic hip-hop element into the single.
Matthew Schultz is a veteran in the music industry. Having previously worked with singer Chris Daughtry, he has maintained a presence in the scene with his impressive vocals and song-writing skills. He was ranked as the number 2 singer/songwriter in the US on Reverbnation.
Jim Jones, originally born Joseph Guillermo Jones II, is an original member of the hip hop collective The Diplomatsalso. He is also featured on VH1 Love & Hip Hop and Chrissy & Miss Jones.

A Cartoony Fun Song, That's Hooyoosay's New Single "Don't You Lie To Me"
hooyoosay's new single "Don't you lie to me" evokes comedy, cartoons, fun movies and video games.
It grabs attention right from the start, with its bizarre techno riff that sounds like an overblown electronic super kazoo.
Next, the vocals are quirky, and then a playful toy organ solo comes along, sort of pleading innocent: "Me? Lie? No..., not really... ".
There's a rhythmic marriage of a modern beat to an almost oompah bass, and the progression is a standard 12-bar rock 'n' roll scheme.
That may seem quite an eccentric cocktail of styles and sounds, but for sure it is easy going and it has a touch of this old school europop sound that is reminiscent of the early days of MTV.
As for the song itself, "Don't you lie to me" is in origin an old blues song, written by Hudson Whittaker.
Eh, did you say "blues", ... for a fun song?!?
Yep! These old blues lyrics often did have an underlying sense of humor! Really.
An EP release will follow soon, offering the additional track "Yooplaaa!", a carefree feelgood instrumental that urges you to join the party, wherever or whatever it is!

Special Concert: 'The J.O.B.' is LIVE at the Best Ranger Competition
(Richmond, VA) - Independent modern rock group ‘The J.O.B.’ will be traveling from Richmond, Virginia to Columbus, Georgia to perform a special concert to open the 30th Annual Best Ranger Competition at Fort Benning on April 10th, 2013. This show is especially significant for ‘The J.O.B.’ since the band’s front man Jim O’Ferrell is himself a former US Army Airborne Ranger and a decorated combat veteran from the war in Iraq. The Best Ranger Competition is a grueling 3 day series of events among 2 man buddy teams from the world's most elite military units to determine who is the Best Ranger team in the world. It is the most prestigious competition of its kind and has been held at Fort Benning, Georgia since 1982.
“It is an incredible honor to have been selected to perform for this event,” said O’Ferrell. “After so many years as a Ranger with a ruck sack on my back and a rifle in my hands, it’s almost surreal to return to the home of the Rangers for this huge international event armed with amplifiers and guitars,” he mused.
‘The J.O.B.’ was formed after O’Ferrell’s return from Iraq in 2008. The band has released 4 albums since their inception and scored 2 songs on the FMQB AC Top 40 Chart in the United States. Their single “Feel” is currently #44 in the USA on adult contemporary radio after spending 20 consecutive weeks in the Top 40 (FMQB AC Top 200 3/21/2013). With an original sound often compared to Dave Matthews Band, Wilco, and the Black Keys, ‘The J.O.B.’ has an effective ‘do it yourself’ promotional effort that has garnered fans worldwide.
Learn more about this dynamic music group from their official website at http://www.thejoband.com and on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/thejoband.
