Indie Artists and Labels, THINK GLOBALLY when you are writing, recording and releasing your music, especially if/when you shoot your music video! There have been many times that I've talked with an artist or manager and they have found some touring success in their back yard or in a couple of states and they think that if they "target" their radio and/or video airplay to just that area, they will be fine. They are not seeing that the world has truly opened up for them to potentially reach more eyes and ears and possibly pocketbooks! Record that single! Shoot that video! PROMOTE them both with a WORLDWIDE focus!
Today, music consumers come from many different countries and many different walks of life. The UK/Europe is really heating up as a hotbed for avid new listeners/viewers and buyers of Country and Americana music. Video is especially key to building an artist's exposure over seas with the explosion of new Country music networks and video shows. Many of these shows are concentrating on American Country music as well as British Country Music and Irish Country Music. Many are also VERY friendly to Indie Country and Americana artists.
This increase in awareness and demand for Country music is also leading to increasing opportunities for artists to go overseas and play in more places than ever before.
After you read this, do some research, ask yourself if your Marketing Plan for your music and your career is targeting the WORLD, not just your "comfort zone"!
