The last few months have proved quite busy over at the Lair, with a slue of new, formidable releases and a handful of live performance projects in the form of music festivals being constantly set up and promoted. This unfortunately has left little time to keep our Reverbnation page totally updated at every beckoning whim of every minute, however we are in the process of getting all of our bands, events & releases cataloged here on our homepage. For now this blog entry will serve as a temporary reminder of what all is in store, has been in store & will be in store for at least the next season. Saturday, September 29th: One of the biggest festivals Houston has ever seen, the second installment of BUILDING TEMPLES FROM DEATH FEST will be taking place at Fitzgeralds Houston (2706 White Oak Dr.) with an unbelievable lineup of Death Metal greats local and exported, young and old, fast and slow. Presented by Ossuary Industries with sponsoring from the Lair.

October 26th- Panzerfaust, Hod, Termination Force & Dread Lair bands SPECTRAL MANIFEST and Funeral Rites take the stage to destroy at the new Walters in Houston, TX.

November 17th- The third installment of the now legendary North Texas fest, The Gathering of Bestial Vengeance, will take place this year at Renos Chop Shop in Dallas, Texas. With a lineup full of some of the Lair's finest local talent, you won't want to miss this night of blasphemous North Texas destruction!

2013 has already seen the rise of several notable Dread Lair festivals and shows booked. Those dates, both in the month of February, are as follows:

February 22nd: Mourning, Hod, Spectral Manifest, Humut Tabal & Brimwylf will be destroying The 19th Hole Bar & Grill in The Woodlands, TX.

Saturday February 23rd- The second annual A Day In The Valley of Death Fest with Mourning, Hod, Spectral Manifest, HT, Plutonian Shore, Grieved, Ingurgitate, Uncleansed, Warmaster, Severance, Mhinotahn, Of Forsaken Divinity and yes, more! Smiley's Ballroom will be the place, door opening and ticket prices will be announced soon.

Release Freeze effective Wednesday May 23rd, Festival Season Announcements!

From Papa Cryptos:

"EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: There will be a freeze on any upcoming new releases after the Funeral Rites compilation until our troubled financial situation is straightened out. Our apologies, but if we are to survive, we really need to start seeing more orders coming in and less of people downloading it for free."

Let it be known that the Funeral Rites compilation will still be pressed & pushed in all of it's unholy glory- those guys have a wonderful little collection of their tunes on hand and we plan to spread it as far as it can go. However the reality of the situation is as stated- we are now in necessity of acquiring more physical purchases and less downloads- bands, please pay specific attention to that last statement. We hope to have this issue resolved in a hasty time frame. In the meantime, there exist several avenues to help out- the biggest requiring a trip to our official big cartel store & picking up the latest pressed releases from Human Chunks, Emperial Massacre, Mantus, Brimwylf, & of course the new Funeral Rites compilation coming soon. Thank you for your patience.

The fest will take place February 23rd, 2013 in a yet to be announced location in South Texas. We have decided to continue working and collaborating with Mr. Serge Carrasco of South Texas Metal Productions in order to bring you as best a fest experience as possible. Keep an eye on this!

Dread Lair gains new digs, changes website!

Hello & a happy April to all of our subscribers!

With the new month comes a new change for us over at the Lair. Some of you might have noticed Cryptos & myself battling out some technical difficulties with the online store during the month of March, whether in the form of notifications from us on the dysfunction or simply not being able to process your order, and the problem had simply grown too significant, especially within the last month which has been huge for releases (HUMAN CHUNKS OUT NOW!). That being said, we have (almost) completely finished the toiling process of moving to a new store!

As it currently stands the original Dread Lair vstore is still online, however that will change in due time. The new official Dread Lair Webstore is up & online with your favorite releases at thedreadlair.bigcartel.com! Please be patient while we go through the move, every CD, LP, Shirt & sticker will be accounted for & transferred within a short time, however most of our stock is now available for order underneath both the "Dread Lair Catalogue" & "Dread Lair Comrades-In-Arms" tabs on the right hand side of the homepage.

We feel as if the change will pay for itself many times over in regards to consistency & quality of function, thank you for bearing with us during the change & as always, hails for your patronage!

New Artist Signing March 2012: Perpetual Sickness

From Curator Cryptos himself last night:

"The Lair is pleased to announced our latest addition to the family. Perpetual Sickness. Featuring Alex Davis (ex-Toresectomy, Chironex), Zakary Roofner (ex-Epic Death), Chris Harris (ex. The Forest of Suicides) and Ricky Ward, this band promises to crush on new levels."

Houston's own Perpetual Sickness are ready & willing to bring a fresh air of insane, skull crushing sounds to the Dread Lair repertoire. Although an almost entirely new force, each member of the Sickness comes from a well established background of projects respected & admired within the Lair family, so we knew whatever these boys are cooking up is bound to blow us all away.

Two members of the group, (guitarist) Alex (Davis) & (drummer) Zach (Roofner), both active Lair affiliates, were kind enough to supply me with a few words for the DL audience concerning what the Sickness will be achieving in the following months.

"I think i can safely speak for all of us when I say it's truly a pleasure finally being amongst a group of well rounded musicians who act as family and show strong support for each other as a community" says guitarist Davis.

When asked about any about upcoming plans for a potential debut release, drummer Roofner chimed in "We wanna get in touch with some one like Dobber (renowned local Houston musician/producer/studio extraordinaire Dobber Beverley) to record our music because he has done amazing drum & vocal work in the studio. We are damn near ready with many tunes completed & finalized". He also added that the first release from the Sickness would satisfy the album experience craving with "pretty much a full length" now in the works.

The band will showcasing themselves as a live outfit for the first time on March 31st in The Woodlands alongside Dread Lair brethren Humut Tabal & Candlelight Record's artist Abigail Williams at the 19th Hole. "We're ready to rape everyone's ears at that show!" boasts Roofner, "I'm proud to be a part of the Dread Lair!"
