ABOUT EBONI MARLEY BROWN; ALSO KNOWN AS EBONI: Eboni loves the Lord and sings gospel music, reggae style. To her, reggae belongs to God. Raised in the church, Eboni's first vocal performances were in front of a congregation, singing with The Voices of Tomorrow. Eboni comes from a long line of singers, including her mother and grandmother.
Though rooted in gospel, Eboni branches into the earthy realm of reggae music. Some of her musical influences include: (the late & great) Garnet Silk, Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs & of course Bob Marley. Since hearing her first reggae album as a youth, Eboni has cherished reggae music. "My godmother sent Musical Youth's first album when I was in grade school, though it wasn't until I heard Linton Kwesi Johnson shortly after that I experienced how reggae could touch my heart and mind.
Eboni is also a songwriter, who loves to create melodies with words. She wrote her first song at the age of 16 and since then has developed an extensive catalogue of music. She wrote or co-wrote all of the material showcased on her latest project. She delivers a musical testimony in her highly anticipated recordings, exhibiting themes of Redemption, Recovery, and Reassurance.
Eboni describes her new CD “Riddim and Blues” as “a gospel album with social commentary…the Roots meets Jesus Christ Superstar.” Redemption rings clear in her song “Enemy’s Camp,” a reggae version of a traditional song with a timeless message. “Get Glad” and “Cry Joy” reinforce themes of recovery and reassurance. While tuning into her impressive octaves, the listener is encouraged to see each day as a blessing.
Ms. Marley Brown’s artistry also includes the stage. She enjoys a healthy back ground in acting and scriptwriting. She’s studied at the Oxford School of Drama and is an alumnus of Hampton University and Union Institute University. She’s written a trilogy of Egyptian plays and a musical entitled Ashe. This Renaissance woman believes that all of her talents are spiritual gifts from the Most High. She desires to spread of message of hope and salvation, regardless of the medium or audience.
Eboni, began her music career at the age of 16 when she sang in her church choir and later with an all female group, Rhapsody, who has performed at the Apollo Theater in New York. Signs Of The Time Remix, feat. Claudelle Clarke & Peter Brown, from the album “ONE MORE TOUCH” VARIOUS ARTISTS VOL.2 The CD 'Signs Of The Time Remix' is a new concept in Reggae Gospel called, 'Street Gospel.
After being re-commissioned by the Lord Jesus Christ in 1968, Claudelle produced six songs Just As I Am, He Touched Me, I Saw The Light, After All, God Is A Mountain, Not My Will. These songs popularized her work and talent and have made her a household traditional Jamaican Gospel singer. Her calling, however, was not geographically bound; consequently, between 1983 and 1993 Claudelles ministry spanned the parameters of the Canadian landscape. During this period, her ministry focused on live performances. However by 1997, she reconvened her work in the recording studio. This occurred after Derrick Morgan spoke with Lloyd Campbell of the Joe Frasier Production Label. The product was the dynamic and historically significant album Reggae Songs of Praise. This album featured collaboration with Denzel Dennis. The Prayer and Reggae Songs of Praise Vol. 2 were both distributed by VP Records. Additionally, Claudelle later produced solo albums The Best of Claudelle Clarke and Live for Jesus. As a result of her hit songs, she has received numerous incontestable awards such as the Life Time International Award and also was inducted into the IRAWMA Hall of Fame.
