Thinking Out Loud

So many times I talk to people who complain or at least recall situations where someone seemed interested at first yet at some moment that SUDDENLY lose interest and "decide to do their own thing". Now sometimes it can be natural or even just fate but other times and more times than you think, your potential "business partner" just wanted to find out what was YOUR PLAN and either take pieces from it or DESTROY IT before it goes down. Only divulge info when they do and then YOU RESEARCH IT to see if its true. Another way to prevent this is keep the venture IN HOUSE until the ENTIRE TEAM is ready to announce so now when you people join in, its something YOU & YOUR TEAM are doing and they are welcome to be a PART of it NOT a PARTNER of it.

INVEST in YOURSELF

I know many people say this but for various reasons and they all may be right in some way, shape or form. But the biggest reason is to keep OWNERSHIP of your career. Yeah I know it is easy to sit back and have someone work for you, fund everything you do, ect. Well first nothing is for FREE, so if they are paying for everything they plan on getting that money back one way or another. If your project does well, it is usually no problem since the record sales will allow you to pay the bills. On the other hand, what if the project flops? You think that person doesn't want their money back, so now you are stuck owing money and worse is you most likely have to clear that up before you can do anything else. Try finding a record company that will buy you out of a bad deal these days. So like I said find a manager that is willing to work hard for you and even PARTNER with you and watch how hard BOTH of you will grind because you BOTH have something invested.
