CONCERT REVIEW: REPLAY The BEATLES Tribute @ Alderney Landing Dart. NS. Sat. Sept 15 2012
ALL YOU NEED IS FUN! 17/09/2012.
Last Sat. night the Beatles tribute : Replay the Beatles took people back to the 60's/70's, rocked Alderney Gate
in Dartmouth and gave the audience a show they will never forget.
From the open Chords of "Hard Day’s Night" to the opening two words of "Hey Jude" Dartmouth lost it’s self in this show and for a moment I found myself forgetting that these were Canadian actors/musicians from Montreal and not the real deal. These guys have done their home work and use all the proper instruments just like a tribute should. Everything from the Vox amps and proper guitars (Rickenbacker, Fender, Epiphone..) to even damping the drums with cloths for "Come Together" and next to perfect wigs.
This was an amazing experience for any rock fan, especially the hard core Beatles fan. Not only did they look like them and sound like them with authentic costumes and their amazing harmonies, but each member took on the characters in a way that was so believable you felt like you had been taken back to a simpler era thru some type of R&R time machine.
Reminding the audience the whole time that they not the Beatles but are only paying tribute to them with witty remarks such as “This next song was good for us..um I mean good for them in 63.. “ They had the crowd in stiches. They even poked fun at Ringo’s playing and his singing by sighing each time it was his turn to sing.
At one point a guest drummer, Scott Fergeson, got up to play a tune and as they switched drummers John Lennon (played by Ricardo Branchini) said to much laugher “ Now we’re gonna sound good!”
With their own brand of style, John Oriettas (Paul), Jean Francois CYR (George), Ted doyle (Ringo) and Ricardo Branchini (John) manage to capture that Beatles wit and charm without flaw, truly paying tribute to the Fab Four.
4.5/5 – Caesar.
Replay the Beatles are currently on a tour of Nova Scotia and will possibly be coming back to Halifax in the future.
Stay tuned for a video interview.. coming soon!
