Hip-hop recording group Over 21 out of the D.M.V lands at # 6 on 93.9 WKYS 2011 Top 10 DMV Music Videos. Over 21 consist of Broadus B. Palma Palmer and Kevin Wise Marable. Both artists has a solo career but have teamed up to form one of the hottest hip-hop groups coming out of the DMV. Over 21 have been making an impact on the music world since 2005 and have been going non-stop ever since. With the smooth sounds and the addicting lyrics you can’t go wrong with these guys. Over 21 have also opened for Hip-Hop Legend Nas at Icons in Fairfax this year. Needless to say the show was beyond a hit. Over 21 have also been on many hit internet radio shows such as MediaSwag Promoradio, Sucka Free Fridays with Marlon Jones and many more. Mr. Mavrikk aka Johnny 2 Good pka Jay grew up in the small city of Waynesboro, VA. Little did he know that he and his cousin (Ace Corleone) would rename the town to “Dub-City” in the later years to come
Growing up in such a small city, the first thing Mavrikk Learned was to keep his mouth shut. Like any other small town everybody knows everybody and everyone knows everything. So Mav pretty much stayed to himself to keep his Business to himself. As a youngin’ Mavrikk’s parents were divorced by the time Mav turned 5 years of age. The courts granted Mav’s mother full custody, but everybody knows a women can’t raise a man. It seemed all Mav wanted to do was run around the city, act a fool, and pull females.
By the time high school started Mav’s mother was more than tired of his antics, so he went to live with his father in Staunton, VA. Do not get it twisted; Mavrikk’s father was no dead beat Dad. Being the better man that he was, Mavrikk’s Dad put his foot down and Mav turned his life around for the better so he thought. No longer, barely passing classes, Mav was getting A’s and B’s consistently, held down a job but still the future musical genesis always seemed to stay to himself.
As well as Mr. Mavrikk was doing in school he still hated to go to class. “School is too easy! What a waste of time.” It was hard for the young man to find something that he believed in that he could pour his heart into. Except for MUSIC!!
All of Mavrikk’s life he believed in the power that music could give to him and to others around him. Unable to sing and carry a tune, Mav began to write Rhymes. And write and write.
Rap music wasn’t paying him a dime so Mav did whatever he could do to make some money from jobs, to selling drugs, to trying to start his own insurance company. Still none has given Mr. Mavrikk the satisfaction that music seems to give him on an overwhelming basis.
ONLY FINDING SALVATION IN A BEAT AND A FLOW!
