Obama Scores Endorsement From NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg

In a surprising announcement, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg endorsed President Barack Obama for re-election today during the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. STORY: Solange Defends Obama & Shuts Trump Down On Twitter! Mayor Bloomberg, an Independent who neglected to endorse a candidate during the 2008 election, published an op-ed piece listing the reasons why he is supporting Barack Obama's candidacy. Citing the destruction of Sandy as a possible result of climate change, Bloomberg says the storm has helped him put the election in perspective and that he stands behind Obama's position on the issue. "The devastation that Hurricane Sandy brought to New York City and much of the Northeast – in lost lives, lost homes and lost business – brought the stakes of Tuesday’s presidential election into sharp relief." The Mayor continued, "Our climate is changing. And while the increase in extreme weather we have experienced in New York City and around the world may or may not be the result of it, the risk that it might be – given this week's devastation – should compel all elected leaders to take immediate action." According to the NYC Mayor, he wants the next president "to be on the right side of history" when it comes to abortion rights, same-sex marriage and progressive legislation on climate change - issues that GOP nominee Mitt Romney promises to fight against. Within the piece, Bloomberg, who has been an open critic of the President in the past, also points out issues he feels Obama failed on accomplishing, including comprehensive gun regulation and job creation. He even called the President's first term "disappointing." Nonetheless, he says that Romney's flip-flopping on major issues has made him wary. "In the past he has also taken sensible positions on immigration, illegal guns, abortion rights and health care. But he has reversed course on all of them, and is even running against the health-care model he signed into law in Massachusetts," said the mayor about the Republican challenger. Bloomberg signs off with words of optimism and hope for the incumbent. "If he listens to people on both sides of the aisle, and builds the trust of moderates, he can fulfill the hope he inspired four years ago and lead our country toward a better future for my children and yours. And that's why I will be voting for him."

FAQ

Q: What is digital distribution? A: Digital Distribution is the distribution of mp3s. We make your mp3s available for purchase in digital retail stores.

Q: Where will my music be sold? A: We distribute your music into a multitude of digital retailers. Itunes, Napster, Zune, Amazon, Rhapsody, Verizon, Walmart.com, and emusic are just a few of the retailers that will be selling your music.

Q: Why do I have to sign a contract? A: We hate these things just as much as you do. Unfortunately, the retail stores require us to obtain contracts from all of the bands we distribute. This also covers all of the parties involved.

Q: Am I signing the copyrights over to you? A: No! You retain all rights to your music. The only thing you sign to us is the rights to distribute your music in digital format.

Q: Do you guys release physical CD’s? A: We do not release physical CDs. Our relationship, however, does not bind you into a physical distribution. You are free to release and distribute physical copies as you wish.

Q: How do the bands get paid? A: We pay our bands every quarter for the royalties earned at that point. If your music sells over $1,000 in a said month, a check will be issued as soon as the statement from the retailers comes in.

Q: How long will it take for my music to be available for download at the retail stores? A: We will send your music to the retailers as soon as we have everything converted and formatted. Each retailer has their own policies to be completed before the songs are available. This time will depend per store. On average, you can expect to have your music up for sale in most stores within a month or two of our receipt of your submission.

Q: What if my band gets signed to another label? A: If that label does not deal with digital distribution, we will continue to distribute your music. However, if the label does, we will work with that label to transfer over the distribution rights. If that label does not want to re-release the record(s) that you have released with us, there will be no issues whatsoever.

Q: What will you do for my band? A: Our goal is to make sure that you succeed. We will do everything possible to help you market your music. In addition we will market your music as well.

Q: Why does Palace Music Group have an interest in my band? A: We have obviously seen something that we have faith in. We want to help take your band to the next level.

Q: Why do I have to have a barcode (UPC) for my CD? A: This is because the digital music stores use the UPC or barcode to track the sales of your songs. This tracking is used to pay royalties to the artist. Without a barcode you can’t get paid. The good thing is that you don’t need a different barcode for every song which you have. One barcode covers your entire album. Q&A for Distro (Continued)

Q: Do I have to have a UPC or Barcode to have my album digitally distributed? A: Yes. UPCs (or Barcode numbers) are required by every major music store. It is the universal method by which various companies and organizations are able to uniquely identify a product. If you don't currently have a UPC, that is fine. We can provide you with one for only $50.

Q: Who is the deal between? A: The deal is between you, the owner of the music, and Palace Music Group.
