Networking With Record Label A&R Executives

The music industry is all about networking and being seen in all the right places. Many recording artists want to know what are they not doing to be as popular as the industry's biggest stars. The answer is simple, and that is networking. As a unsigned artist, it is a must that you know who is who in the industry your trying so hard to break into, and you must know how to reach out to them. Many unsigned recording artists assume top record label A&R's are not approachable or reachable, when that is so far from the truth. Your typical A&R executive is usually a down to earth employee at a record label, who does not have the massive wealth, ego, and fame, as the artists they represent. A&R's are also very reachable, and will not hesitate to answer a email or return a phone call. A&R's are always in search of new talent for a record label, otherwise what the hell are they in business for ? As a recording artists you must be all in when it comes to your music career. Mainstream artists use their own dime to fly across country and even the world to attend industry events. Unsigned artists should at least attend local events and industry events in the nearest major city. Record label contacts are very important when it comes to reaching out to certain record label contacts about attending your shows, listening to a new song, etc. Do not get lazy with your music career thinking you don't need this or that, cause the reality is you cant do it alone. You need a team behind you, otherwise like any job you will burn out.
