Yesterday was the fundraiser for Gunner Gunner's upcoming tour. The band played a set in the back yard of one of the members. I hadn't planned on photographing the event so I didn't bring a proper flash, and instead relied on my camera's flash which is harsh, but effective. The event went well and the boys made some cash for the tour. A hand full of pics will appear on my FB page Michael Kolton Photography.

Last night it was a maximum capacity crowd at the tiny Soda Bar in San Diego. When the headline band Guttermouth came onstage the entire front on the stage became one giant mosh pit. At the invitation of the lead guitarist and drummer I did something I've never done before: I photographed the entire concert onstage with the band. I'll have a good set of interesting pics up on my website in a few days. Man I gotta tell ya, that was the most interesting experience I've ever had as a photographer. At one point early on, some fans got so rowdy that they knocked one of the monitor speakers off it's 8" ledge and onto it's face. I looked down at me feet and saw the backside facing upwards with the cables still plugged in. I took off my camera and gently set it down beneath an unused microphone stand by the drummer and proceeded to upright and re place the monitor. The damned thing had to weight at least 80 lbs! I had to stop photographing again later on to pick up a surge protector that someone threw onstage before one of the musicians tripped on it. Overall it was a good show, but for me a very unique experience.

This Saturday I will be photographing the 6th annual punk rock concert and food drive here in San Diego. I'm looking forward to the challenge of shooting an event AND seven bands all in one night.
