RAIN SOAKED PASSION
I love the sound of rain, it reminds me of our lovemaking
from gentle to quite passionate; nothing short of earth shaking.
Loved the days when rain came down, cause to my side you'd come
slip up behind me, arms so strong; my heart beat like a drum.
Gentle way you kissed me, slow, then full of fire
building, smoldering, longing, bodies joined in desire.
How I miss those days of passion, longing for that thunder,
your touch, caress and kisses filled my heart with so much wonder.
I remember as the lightening flashed and rain fell down so hard,
you took my hand, we slipped outside into our small backyard.
You lay me down, beneath the tree our bodies joined in heat,
though cold against our skin it fell, our passion was so sweet.
Your lips were gentle, trailing down my body as it rained;
teasing, pleasing, mimicking the raindrops as I strained
to get you closer to me, to feel our shared desire.
Though cold and wet and shivering, my body caught on fire.
I miss those days, I miss your voice, your lips and gentle touch.
I lay here now confused, alone, I miss you oh so much
WHISPER
You were my friend and then we were lovers;
but neither one knew, one from the other.
It was all so quick and soon was over;
but it opened my eyes and now I am bolder.
You're the whisper of the leaves
as I walk down the street.
You're the sound of the rain
that lulls me to sleep.
The fragrance of life that opened my senses
unhinged my heart and tore down my defenses.
We walked side by side and it was all good
I don't regret it; neither one of us should
Nothing lasts forever, it all has to end.
Is it ever really possible to just stay friends?
When you hear that song, I hope you'll remember
that one sweet, sweet weekend back in November
So whisper my name,
and remember the heat
It's the memories that matter,
the memories we keep
SEDUCTION
Time and time again, I tell myself
That I'm okay with the hand I was dealt
But days like today, I tend to miss
The simple things like an unexpected kiss
A dash through the rain to an old oak tree
Or steaming up truck windows behind the levee
The way that you smell, the way that you walk
The sultry sweet seduction in the way that you talk
That scruff of your beard against my soft skin
The heat of the moment from deep down within
On days like today, I tend to miss
How you seduced me with words that I couldn't resist
LOVIN' AND LEAVIN'
I met that man when I was on the run
Gotta admit he made the chase a whole lotta fun
He called it rock - but truth is it was the blues
But I'm not complaining cause I was set on cruise
Ain't nothin wrong with his lovin as long as you know he's leavin;
'cause he's a smooth talkin, wine pouring, rain making, blues man
So you're better off smiling and walking away if you can
Come over here baby and let me hold you
Come over here baby you know you want to
Eyes that sparkle. But tell lies
Words that sound sweet but make you cry
And then I think he said damn baby give it some time.
I'm not really sure cause I was walking a straight line right out the door
He was a walkin, talkin, dream spinning machine;
but nothing he said meant anything
He"d pull you in then twirl you out ;
then act like he didn't know what you're talkin about
Ain't nothin wrong with his lovin as long as you know he's leavin;
cause he's a smooth talkin, wine pouring, rain making, blues man
So you're better off smiling and walking away if you can

The Devil Within
THE DEVIL WITHIN
She called him her California Santa Ana wind Comin on so strong, he made her head spin Infamous for fanning the fires of desire wounded hearts and souls he seemed to devour
That's why they call it the devil wind That's why she said he had a devil within Full of self denial, he burned her to the quick Then like a wave of fire descended on her in judgment
Running from feelings or maybe he's scared left a path of destruction, broken hearts and tears Talked of seeking the truth, but he's full of self-doubt Blamed whiskey and women for what he dished out.
Having slept with the demon, she awoke in silence Unable to leave, but shamed by her compliance Made proof the truth of a lie, accepted with a smile Knowing in a medicated haze, all the praise was a lie
He got into her dreams and he played with her mind Sometimes he was cruel; but he knew how to be kind That's why they call it the devil wind That's why she said he had the devil within

No net
He's trouble she knows , with a capital T. He lies and he cheats and he's just a big tease.
He pisses her off, then sets her on fire. just takes a song and she's walking the wire. No net underneath just taking a chance on that slow, wild and dangerous dance
It'll end bad. They will both pull away, cause it always ends bad that's just the way they play
Her coffee is getting cold as she waits for him to miss her. But the whiskey and other women keep him warm; cause he's ready to forget her

Lost
Tangled sheets twisted memories. Sleepless nights there's no remedies
Can't move forward til she let's go. Can't let go cause the memories are holding on
Rain outside her window thunder in the air. She lies awake and wonders if he ever really cared
Lightening flashes brightly she shivers in the heat closes her eyes and thinks of that man and his conceit
She wonders if she's damaged maybe she's lost the will or if she has simply lost the ability to feel

Corner Booth
She was sitting in a corner booth, looking pretty but so aloof She fiddled with her coffee cup without ever really looking up
He watched her from across the room and caught the scent of her perfume It wasn't that she was beautiful or even all that youthful
And yet he was captivated. Completely fascinated. He couldn't take his eyes off her and why he couldn't decipher Maybe cause she was a mystery, someone who had to have a history. A woman who had seen it all, felt the pain and built a wall.
Could it be she was all alone? Just like him - all on his own. She seemed so lost in thought, and yet not unhappy or distraught
The waitress refilled his coffee cup and caught his glance as she looked up She shook her head and smiled and thought another man intrigued and beguiled.
He caught the waitress by the arm, nodded to the woman who had him charmed "Who is she, what's her story? Is she single or is she wary?
A sad glance crossed the waitress' face, "the love she lost you can't replace." Her heart was broke, she's now alone, and for her sins she can't atone."
And still he was captivated. Completely fascinated. He couldn't take his eyes off her and why he couldn't decipher
Maybe cause she was a mystery, someone who had to have a history. A woman who had seen it all, felt the pain and built a wall.

Sands of Time
Sands of Time It's been so long since she called my name Women are here but it just aint the same dreams I must hold, my regrets are few But the hardest thing babe was losing you.
CHORUS Sands of time, you took her far away Sands of time, where is my love today Sands of time, sands of time Sands of time, you took my love away
Verse II It's been so long since my first guitar I get so close, but it seems so far I know the life I've chosen my regrets are few But the hardest part baby was losing you.
Wastin my time on sweet talk and wine, But i still remember her love was so fine Sands of time (echo) repeat and out

Sands of Time
Today.. as I was cleaning out closets I found a ragged folder - inside were jewels... Songs written by my late husband Keith Smith. Some I knew - some I had never heard. They were handwritten complete with chord progressions.. I know exactly when this one was written... two months after Keith left me and KaCee to hit the road in North Carolina with MoJo Collins. Sweet, bittersweet memories. Hope you enjoy..

Austin
Born in a small town but she never fit in her head was in the clouds she wanted to fly like the wind She dreamed of Austin being free and alive with music playing and her life revived Fell in love with a wild man then took to the road Houston caught them first but her heart it couldn't hold L.A. called her name so she packed and said goodbye He followed her the distance and never asked her why But he longed for home and so they came back and tragedy struck and her world turned black Again she dreamed of Austin to be free and someone new no memories or heartaches just a wide open view Cause when she's in Austin she's free and revived The music eases her soul and she can finally come alive

PERSPECTIVE
PERSPECTIVE
It's only when we put thing in perspective That we realize where our hands belong I miss the way mine felt in yours So small and yours so strong
I feel so unprepared these days My life has come unwound Loose threads have left me lost and scared Because you aren't around
They say that I'll be fine one day That I should just forget And let the past evaporate Into a deep dark mist
I long to just be free of this Surround myself with strangers A different road to travel down To hell with all the dangers

YOUR SHIRT AND HIGH HEEL SHOES
Can you hear that sound? It’s a sound you’ve heard before The devil in a pair of high heels headed towards your door.
You can smell her perfume as you lean against the door Wishing she would go away, but wanting her even more
You hear her knock, knock, knocking and you don’t want to let her in But it’s too late you can’t fight it because the devil will win again
There is no doubt about it, you’ve tried but you can’t fight it It’s to late her green eyes mesmerize, now you can’t live with out it.
Your daddy tried to warn you but you never thought it true That the devil makes her rounds in your shirt and high heel shoes
