We must root them out! Make them suffer! Make them burn! HUNGH!! TOTAL WAR scream about WAR & SATAN.....ALOT , on this throat slicingly fast all out black metal thrashin' attack! 14 songs in 34 minutes , TOTAL WAR keep it short , fast , and rude , but will slow it down , make it heavy , rock it out , whatever they feel fits their satanic mood. Really good sound balancing a raw sound with studio level recording covered in blood and shit , demon semen and nun whore piss. Blasting chaos , throat bleeding shrieks of insanity , rolling thunder bass n' drums and a cover of SODOMS Bombenhagel! It's always a SODOM song , isn't it? -arty

I'm alone...in a dark cave of madness. ANRACRUSIS sure know how to squeeze the fun out of Heavy Metal. Technically proficient , professional sound production , introspective and thoughtful lyrics , and WAAAY to serious for their own good. Too controlled too. They are fast and heavy and have some screaming vocals , along with clean emo vocals , but ANARCRUSIS never cut loose , lose control , go crazy. I think even their onstage head banging was synchronized and pre planned. It's not that they weren't a good band , they were good songwriters , they were inventive and came up with some original stuff on this , and their other album , but compared to OVERKILL , NUCLEAR ASSAULT , EXODUS, HIRAX , they were sterile and dry. But better than GOTHIC SLAM! They used thrash as a template but eschewed everything that gave it life! I've only listened to 'Screams And Whispers' 3 or 4 times and if I can stop listening to DEMOLITION HAMMER , SOLSTICE , MALEVOLENT CREATION , and INCUBUS , I will give it another listen. Not bad but no fun. -arty

Slaughter and mayhem? BINGO! Not the bands , MISERY INDEX is the band and they took their name from one of the greatest grindcore albums ever released and live up to the standard ASSUCKS - Misery Index set. 'Pulling Out The Nails' is extreme auditory overload compiling 30 trax from over 7 sources for complete and total grindcore annihilation!!!! This is a great place to start getting into MISERY INDEX ; it has lyrics , show flyers , artwork from all these releases , and a list of every show MISERY INDEX has ever played!?! ' Pulling Out The Nails' was re-mastered by grindcore overlord Scott Hull and MISERY INDEX is one of the best U.S. grindcore/Death Metal bands standing shoulder to shoulder with DYING FETUS , DEEDS OF FLESH , ORIGIN ,and GORGASM. - arty

Be careful , they sneak up on ya. What I think I know about STATIC-X and the Machine cd. The intro and outro are useless and not needed. I think the bassit Tony Campos is/was in ASESINO? 2nd track 'Get To The Gone' is pretty bad ass, fast, hard! Guitarist Tripp got busted for having sex with a minor. Track 7 'So Cold' is heavy and slow , my favorite song on this cd. I think wayne Static really cares about the way he looks and his big ass house and expensive cars. I don't know what that thing on the cd cover is but it looks cool! This cd is 11 years old. There are 10 actual songs on this album. You can get it for about $3.00 on amazon.com. For a radio band STATIC-X is pretty good and they like MINISTRY. I like MINISTRY. Geronimo! -arty

I think anyone would totally dig Zeke - Til The Livin' End , the first track kix in like gangbusters , fucks shit up and is back out the front door before your head stops spinnin' and Til The Livin' end just keeps on hittin' n' bashin' and stompin' all over your nuts and guts for the next 28 minutes! Songs like 'Chinatown' , 'Dolphenwulf' , 'Ever Onward' are so badass and catchy that I will listen to them 2 or 3 times before movin' onto the next track! 'Cept for 'Ever Onward' since it's the last track. If you still haven't heard ZEKE , first , take your head outta yer ass , go to youtube and type in Z-E-K-E- D-o-l-p-h-e-n-w-u-l-f! Also think MOTORHEAD crossed with the most brutal and fastest thrash and punk you ever heard. -arty

Feel the pain of fire and hell and tha'ts just the beginning! 10 trax of hard fast and heavy L.A. Metal twirling together a large dosage of thrash while injecting the bands own sounds of personal insanity and rage! Bassist Robbo supplies vocals which are a double edged sword for me. Most of the time he sounds really cool , has a rough n' rugged gruff growl but on 'Face Beneath The Fist' his voice kind of wears on me ; it might even be the lyrics but I think if he tried to sing more he would sound better than the growl/yell he sticks to. The music stays hard and fast like I mentioned and KAUSTIK sound good when they cut loose and go wild turning up the speed or blasting on the drums like on 'Disputed Corrupted'. KAUSTIK achieved a great and LOUD sound on this cd and I suspect their next cd will be even better. Last thing though is I did not like the cover art. What is it? I see fire but what is the design? Other than that a solid release from a hard working band that put on a great live show! BATTLE SETS! -arty

This bloods for me. Beginning with a flourish of soberingly somber piano piece then plunging into 'Rain' TRIVIUM really pulled me in with their hard hitting riff attack and they keep it going for the 55 minute duration of Ascendancy. some really good growls by guitarist Matt and his melodic singing signals a change in Metal that some may not want but I think he is singing from the heart in his own voice and this is his sound. Sometimes crunchy and mid paced sometimes really fast TRIVIUM still harken back to fist pumping crowd chanting Metal while forging their own path into the future. I've had this awhile and kind of neglected it but will be listening to it more. Great cover art as well. arty

Is yer heart beating? Let me rip it out and check! Why THE vines? ''Cos it wuz at the library. They play kinda sloppy rock n' roll rippin' off Nirvana and The Beatles in short bursts and I like it. This cd is a penny on amazon and does anyone know if these aussie screwheadz broke up or are they still makin' music? 12 songs , I like the vocals , I like this album. -arty

Wanna hug before S.B.T. peels your skin off? Released back in 2003 well before the thrash wave hit S.B.T. were mixing the main ingredients of thrash with classic older metal themes and a dash of Death vocals to come up with their first offering Route 666. So something kinda like PANTERA & MACHINEHEAD but with more melodic vocals and a bigger nod to the forefathers JUDAS PRIEST , IRON MAIDEN , and METALLICA. There is alot of energy on Route 666 and the only things I don't wholly like are some of the vocal patterns guitarist Matt Difabio chooses but the vocals are also one of the strong points for S.B.T. including some good backup vox.
S.B.T. are still around still releasing albums and deserve a listen. They are somewhere in between the underground thrash revival and more mainstream bands like TRIVIUM and BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE. They are a Metal band forging towards the future but haven't forgotten where the style came from. Arty

I've drifted away from fuzzy stoner rock but listening to Daredevil reminded me why at one time it was all that I jammed to. Dardevil contains 11 trax of desert rawk tossin' out infectious riff laden heaviness and spacey rhythms and vocals that remind me of of a stoner/surfer/skater dude talkin' 'bout California. But in a good way. FU MANCHU has put out alot of good albums and some not so spectacular albums but Daredevil is classic stoner rock when stoner rock was just startin'. I like every song on the cd but " spacefarm " , "wurkin' " , and "push button magic " are some noteworthy trax you should sample. Arty
