Eliz: “Elíz” (pronounced “e-leese”) is Elizabeth Marie Camacho, the girl who spends most of her day in a mirror primping herself just to go to the mailbox, fixing and re-re-RE fixing her hair, only looks at the clock that is right on-time knowing it’s about 5 minutes fast just to say “I’m on-time”, and regresses to a “2 year-old” when around her mom, but instantly turns back into a sassy “grown ‘n sexy” diva when in front of the spotlight. I have and always will continue to stand for hard work, encouraging others to strive for better and to become the BEST at who you are

Eliz Camacho is one of North Carolina’s fastest rising stars. Beautiful, charming, passionate, and witty are but a few words that could describe Eliz. But don’t let the pretty face fool you; there’s much more to Eliz than a pretty face and a soulful voice. Eliz caught our attention because she possesses the “Triple Threat”, she sings, models, and is an actress. Eliz feels like she has the best of both worlds because she grew up listening to Hip-Hop and R&B, along with Latin Music (Salsa, Merengue, and Bachata). Eliz is of African-American and Puerto Rican heritage. She fully embraces her heritage and infuses her dual roots in her artistic expression. Some of her favorite artists include Chaka Khan, Stevie Wonder, Patti LaBelle, Duke Ellington, Enrique Iglesias, Selena, and Celia Cruz.
During her teenage years, Eliz received vocal training but wasn’t sure if she wanted to make singing a career. But everything changed when she received a call to sing the National Anthem for President-Elect Barak Obama. Before signing in front of a crowd of nearly 10,000 people, Eliz received a send-off from her church. “After singing the National Anthem for the First African-American President, I knew I had to take singing more seriously,” said Eliz. One year after singing for the President, Eliz landed her first movie role in Changing The Game. “It felt like a dream come true! I had a small role but the experience was priceless,” says Eliz.

BB Kings Restaurant & Blues Club was the place to be Sunday August 21st. HotStepz magazine, with other members of the media, was invited to cover the annual Urban Music Awards 2011 event. Every year Urban Threshold's members Jesse Atkinso, Mr Raw and Mars put together this event to give recognition to all the rising stars in the world of music. The UMA's have become the nations largest award show recognizing the talents of independent artist, producers and songwriters from right here in the United States. Past UMA winners include such artist as Shea Rose, Nicki Minaj, Lil Mama, Freeway, Fred the Godson who actually won another award at the UMA's on Sunday. Fred The Godson currently has a new single out featuring Diddy entitled "Get Money Pt2"
Before the UMA show began, the crowded was entertained with some great music played from the DJ while the guest continued to enter and patrons ate and had conversations with one another.
Chia Schonberg from DaMatrix Studios did a great job as the hostess of the UMA as did her co-host R&B singer and new "Queen of the South" Eliz Camacho. Eliz Camacho currently has a new single out entitled "Get Loose". Singer Madeline was there and excited the audience as she performed her hit Single "Body Parts" along with her dancers Samantha Watts and Sarah Rodak. The two are also know as the popbellahall dancers.
Dj and radio host DJ Noe from NOEtv was on hand at the UMA and spend a moment with HotStepz to tell us whats going down with him. DJ Noe was not only a nominee for DJ of the year but he was also the winner.
The event also paid tribute to pioneers in the business such as Brand Nubian. Keith Murray was also on hand and took a moment to mingle with guess and the press. HotStepz' own Clubmaster Steele and MDot got into a photo with Keith Murray and T.H.C Production's Trife Boss. The Bronx seemed to be holding it down at the UMA's. ClubMaster Steele, Trife Boss, DJ NOE and Fred The Godson share something in common, we all come straight out the Bronx as well as Hip Hop artist Mr Gat who was nominated for original artist. Another artist coming straight out of the Bronx is hip hop artist Ounp who won the award for Best Punch Line. Ounp current single is entitled "What Chu Talkin Bout" featuring Lloyd Banks, Jadakiss and Fred The Godson.
The event was a huge success as it is every year. HotStepz looks forward to the next UMA.
