The funk, the soul & all other good stuff...BKLYN Soul Renaissance last night!

I want to give thanks to everyone who came out to our BKLYN SOUL RENAISSANCE event at Rustik! Another slammin' DuEwa Frazier production, featuring some very, very talented artists!

Tah Phrum Duh Bush---this man is true hip hop, with a touch of comedy and old school story telling. Plus his freestyle is sick! He had the whole house laughing, on the floor, in stitches from his hip hop song about how some artists just don't how to use a mic (we've all heard that muffled sound when a poet/emcee/singer practically eats the mic-lol)!!! Tah utilized audience participation for his song about how to keep your cool when people piss you off in the street, on the subway or at work (I got my shaker Tah-lol).

Rakiem Walker feat. members of Blusyde had the house vibrating *all night*. Their jazz, hip hop and house music jams in between each set (Tribe Called Quest Relaxation was hot!) kept the party going. Beatdown was a monster on the drums for my extended rap lyric after my poem Hip Hop Anthem--WHAT! YES-I'm officially a lady lyricist! I think my black fedora style hat, tipped to the side gave me extra swagger (lol)!

Masauko & Yolanda gave us Brooklyn and South African soul music at its best! The audience really enjoyed their beautiful song lyrics accompanied by Masauko's guitar. I can't wait to hear the Blk Sonshine classic "Building" again ...Masa I have to book you for another show, just to hear that song - love it!

Shout outs to Demostina, Pattie Carragon of Brownstone Poets series and Charlotte Mishell, all fellow artists who came out to support. Despite Rustik's good party food (crab cakes, buffalo wings, turkey burgers, nacho platters, and veggie pizzas) people ate and drank all night, and no one caught "the itis" during our show!!! From 8pm - 12am we rocked it and the people stayed with us! Thank you!

Hope to see you at the next event! And please bring a friend! Visit my music Myspace page for event updates.

Love all the time,

DuEwa

Word Canvas SOUL on April 11th was a HOT HOT show!

We had a great time last Sunday at The Shrine!! The house was packed with friends and music lovers! Yours truly rocked with the well known soul/funk/hip hop and jazz band Blusyde - lead by Rakiem Walker on sax. As always, Jeremy James melted us with his silky voice and guitar! Poets Onome (accompanied by Jason Chedda) and Chris Slaughter were in the house giving us the soul-spoken word vibe!! I sang a few notes of a popular soul song; my poetry merged with soul and funk music that we really rocked with! Thank you to everyone who came out and raised the roof with us.

BKLYN Soul Renaissance next Saturday, April 24th at Rustik is sure to be another smoker!! Don't miss, yours truly, Tah Phrum Duh Bush, Blusyde and Masauko & Yolanda!

Holla at your girl if you need directions! Show time is 8pm, don't be late playas!

One Soul, D.
