Cancelled Again

For the 3rd week in a row someone decided to cancell a show they had booked my band for. Luckily I was able to re-book last weekend but how many "last Minute bookings" in a row can I hope for??? With very little explanation The Cleveland VFW cancelled our Laborday weekend show today. less than 2 weeks out!!! I have turned down no less than a dozen oppertunities to play that weekend because The Cleveland VFW booked this date 6 months ago. I wish the people responsible for booking venues would realize that everytime they do this they break a verbal contract. In the 12 years I've had SILVERADO I have never cancelled a show. I realize there are very good reasons to cancell a show, Double booking isn't one of them. If a venue messes up THEY should pay, not the bands. I know this is a pipe dream, in the 12 years I have been double booked many times and only once did the venue compensate for their mistake. But I felt a very strong loyalty to that venue and respected the m very much for that. If you are a person responsible for booking bands please remember, Sometimes the people you cancell Need andare counting on the money they would earn from playing music, also your "Mistake" generally financially effects 3 to 6 families (depending on the size of the band)not just the one person you talkesd to. If you find out the band you hired was not what they advertised to be, an act of God, Bar shut down, wedding cancelled, or a tragedy (fire etc.)are all understandable and reasonable reasons to cancell shows,None of these were the case,I had played at all these venues, they all rebooked me AFTER they heard me, IF YOU AREN'T GONNA LET ME PLAY - FOR SURE -DON'T BOOK ME
