THE CHILD WITHIN
I used to play down at the river
Running through a forest full of trees
A happy memory of my childhood
As the river runs through me
That snapshot echoes like a dream
Faraway from here and yet so real
I know the child is still within me
But he’s not allowed to feel

How that little boy, the single joys
Got lost as I grew older

I rarely laugh much as I used to
The world’s too serious these days
