Band Break-ups

I hate it when a good band breaks up. I could name at least five bands that I like that've broken up in the last couple years. WEEN broke up after 28 years of making wild, stylistic, goofy music. And recently my other band, DEAD TO SOCIETY broke up(although we are going to release a final album and documentary). A band that we're friends with THE BAMFS are gonna have their last show on Aug 31st. While it makes me sad, I understand why this bands break-up: drama, money problems, difficulty building an audience, bad business deals, deaths of band members, or sometimes people just move on to other things. But RAW DOG will keep going!!

Recovering from last night...hahaha!

What is it about rockabilly shows that inspires alcohol abuse?? I saw THE TREMORS, BLOOD RED RIVER, and BUBBA JOE and THE BRUISERS last night. Good show, but I definitely spent too much on booze...oh well...it was more fun than sitting at home!! Still tryin' to line up some more RAW DOG shows, so far I've got one for December and I wanna get 10 more. If anybody who's reading this is interested in booking me, I play for cheap and you can contact me at 919-696-0720 or manning.kimmel@gmail.com. Thanks-MK5

The Future

I've been making this music for 6 years now and it's been a helluva wild ride....Most of the reactions from people have been positive...although some people don't appreciate my wild sense of humor. That's fine. It's not for everyone. But for the people that have complimented me, you have my eternal gratitude...your encouragement has kept me going through drama...band members moving away....layoffs...etc, etc. A thousand "thank you's" to my fans!!!

New songs!!

Hey there boys and girls. BIG D and I recorded some new stuff this weekend. It's a little different than our usual stuff. Hope you like it-MK5

The New Album, PROUD TO BE WEIRD/PROUD TO BE WHITE TRASH is finally here!

It's been a little under three years since our debut, RABID, was released. Since then we've played shows when we could and recorded new material whenever possible. One of our songs, A FEW BRAINS MORE, is going to be in the hippie/zombie horror film, A FEW BRAINS MORE:SUMMER OF BLOOD, which is supposed to be released this summer. I'm currently booking more shows and looking for a record label. Thanks for the support-MK5

New RAW DOG song!

Here's a new RAW DOG song called 'A FEW BRAINS MORE'. It's a theme song for the upcoming zombie movie 'A FEW BRAINS MORE: SUMMER OF BLOOD', which will be premiering next month at a horror festival in Tennessee. Like I said, the new RAW DOG album has been temporarily delayed, due to a potential layoff, but I WILL release it ASAP!!! Thanks for listening and I'll be playing as many shows as I can in 2011. Later-MK5

The RAW DOG won't stop barking!

I've got 11 songs recorded and 4-6 left to go for the new album, PROUD TO BE WEIRD/PROUD TO BE WHITE TRASH! Then comes the hard part: RAISING THE MONEY TO MAKE THE ALBUM! It's gonna take about $1700. That's lot of money for a working-class white boy like me! But I did it once and I can do it again! This time I'm aiming to have 1,000 copies pressed and to get more magazines to review the CD. After that, I'm going to try and find a label. D.I.Y. is fun sometimes, but more often than not, you spend more time trying to promote, book shows, and get press than you do playing music! Anyhow, thanks for reading this and if you like my music, I greatly appreciate it!

RAW DOG is the most hated music in The Triangle!

That's right folks! The hipsters and music critics of Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill have spoken and THEY HATE RAW DOG!! Apparently my music is crude/sexist/weird/insensitive and nothing more than insane noise produced by a modern day caveman! Booking my shows in this area is like trying to turn lead into gold! The only cool venue that will book me is THE MARVELL EVENT CENTER in Durham.BUT I WILL NOT QUIT! If there's one thing I've learned it's that you don't get anywhere in this world by giving up. I'm going to start recording the final tracks to our new album, PROUD TO BE WEIRD, PROUD TO BE WHITE TRASH, on JULY 17th and I'll release the CD as soon as I can afford to. Hopefully it will be before the end of 2010. The new album features ILL BILL on bass guitar, BIG D on synthesizer, acoustic guitar, and as an engineer, and will have some artwork from ANA MONZON. After the album is released, I will begin the long search for a record label, in an attempt to widen our exposure and become more successful. I greatly appreciate it when anyone likes our music, so if you do, you have our eternal gratitude. And if you hate us....GOOD!
