BANDIT RADIO!

Ok y'll know the only way anyone made it in Music was being creative and working hard at the craft. I'm not changing my page name but you can refer my page BANDIT RADIO from now on. It's the Underground all over again mates...Keep it Rockin...Rock till you drop!

Tis the Season...to be Rockin!

Tis the Season to be Rockin... Yeah...I went there but y'all know it's true! Spirits are lighter hopefully and we all can push past the downers that come our way. Nothing better than to take some time a listen to some of your favorite music. I took the opportunity this last monday to listen to in one sitting ( actually I was busy in the kitchen ) and listened the the whole Abby Road LP by The Beatles. Not everyone is a Beatles fan, I know but after watching my favorite musical group on the Peter Jackson three part series something switched on I have been missing for sometime now...I catch myself humming and singing to the songs deep in my memory...a rather delightful feeling I will admit. Whether it's your favorite Christmas song or the Scandinavian Rock Lords you enjoy...blow it out and have a Great Holiday Spirit! Rock till you drop mates, it's almost Christmas! Oh and by the way...naughty or nice? It's either Saint Nick or Krampus...you choose...Hohoho!

NorthernBandit Bio

At the core of my talent I am a Bass Guitarist ( Talent by definition is what one might acheive when applying dilegent effort over a period of time, a career, art or life. ). This is purhaps to state that my focus is the core values of the Rhythm Section of music relating to modern Rock and Roll circa 1963 through the late 70's. It may be aniquated in the minds of some soul but to me regardless of popular belief it is where I operate from, the Golden Age Of Modern Sound. I have spend all of my time for the past forty years learnig a craft...having taught myself to play six string guitar, mandolin, harmonica, electric keyboards and synth, percussion, flute, and have adapted my sound around experiments creating sounds literally from chimes and tupperware buckets when professional equiptment was not available. This is about love of creation, of playing musical instruments and allowing a story to take place through poetry...it is what life is all about. This will sound conceded to some but this is not the goal to talk incesently about me but it is about the passion I have for what I do artisticly as I see it and enjoy for myself...then again it is up to those who choose to share this love of music and take a chance and become available to listen and maybe appreciate a like quality in an art form many of of still profess as our own. Thank you for listening. Rock till you drop.

Th Magic of our music!

Hello my musical friends...we all come from such diverse background, it would be wrong to believe we all think the same way but music does have a way of bringing us together don't you agree? Tom Petty said it best and I paraphrase..." Music is the only really Magic I have found in my life " and for me as well it is true. As an example I have on occasion been in the rush of a recording project...deep in the nuts and bolts of it...I'm not just recording music but listening to many things during the session. Sometimes it comes about while your recording or mixing down a track but it is like when musicians get together to play...you can sense the moment and get a feeling that at that point in time something cool, tangable and exciting is occuring but like any real life stiuation it's not out of body then and there. For me this happens sometime after the recording is done and I am listening to a playback and finding myself wondering how it all came together with such spark. It is not about self glorification...it is like an out of body experience looking back on something that has just occured and at that earlier time..." The Magic " had not been obvious. But then, there it is and it just catches you by surprize. It's not something anyone can just conjour up though that might be nice but when the Magic is there you will know, it strikes your soul and makes you understand how precious the music really is. Rock till you drop.

Locked in a room...

Aye...Good evening. This is as my wonderful friend and fellow musician Friend Mike Barber from South Caorlina calls me " Bandit ". Anyone of the hundreds of bands you and I know of never really ever designed what some of us in this business call " A Hit ". Think about it, the most noteable Artists, many of them created only inspired material about every day stuff and working hard the whole while trying to ink out a song that was worthy of life and Rock and Roll. Since the dawn of time there have been people who locked themselves in rooms and said they wouldn't come out till they had a hit but you know...thats not normal and usually singer/songwriters don't fare that well when it comes to being popular. The one thing however is you love and passion for the sounds you create...nothing more, nothing less. Keep iot up, it is about the connection you have with people not with the dialog of pensions and paychecks thjough as you probably have already experienced those thing are a matter of survival as well...stay balanced and Rock till you drop. It's that simple. Maybe.

Slipping in the slide zone....

No excuses, time is something we musicians know well, we also know how TIME can literally ruin ones best intentions...more to the point of preventing a soulful person from being creative.

What do you do?

So many time throughout what we experience, it is a calling. Something that cradles you and you wonder without really thinking about it...we all carry on.

It isn't about waiting for someone to tell you it's ok, sure there is a bit of that, that hangs around but it is more about what you want for yourself.

There is the part about Show Biz that catches everyone...and it is what drives the Rock and Roll engine, usually it isn't why you do what you do.

It is because of who you are and who you have become and hopefully without too much posturing and being bigger that we really are.

Art is as they say...is as important as the one who may appreciate it...Artist and fan alike. Music is among many a vital link to living, to life.

We got here not because someone put us on a pedistal but because we cared enough to never give up weather good, bad or indifferent.

The song remains the same.

What I have always digged!

I can't help it and you might agree, The Guitar is the place for me. I am a singer/sonwriter and there is no hiding the truth, Guitars...Cars and Girls have been my passion many will agree... For years I sought after the rigs my Heros used..y'all know why...the tone they arrived at for those stellar sounds for all those special sounds that touched our souls all the way to our hearts. There just comes a point where you arrive at what suite you best and I have found my Tres. First off, you can pull a bunny out of a hat but here we are talking about inspirational guitars from 50 years ago...it hasn't changed and if any of you younger players are searching for what is going to inspire you all you have to do is pay a little attention to what I am saying today. I am no Guru...I am just a Soul man in a mixed up world but here is the thing...You have to find your soul and then you have to express it...if you are like me it might take a lifetime and then in might be short lived either way it's you life, your heart if you lay it on the line. Depends on where you come from and where you are going but it starts with you. My wish if wishes could come true is you find your mark...break a leg or two...and never ever forget it all starts with you!

What makes for some great sounds...Rhythm!

Aye, good day mates...fellow listener, dancers, rockers, singers, players. Life as we know it is how we shake, tap our feet, snap our fingers, nod or heads...something that connects with our internal beat...It's not complicated if you allow it to happen, you can't think this one out, it is a natural occuring event this thing called Rock and Roll! Y'all can write songs about emotion, you can sing about the chickens in the back yard, y'all can play guitar and make it sound like a chicken clucking...yah...it has been done but if the music you are trying to create doesn't flow...there ain't no go. It's like an engine in a car with bad spark plugs...same goes for the song. If there isn't anything holding up the rhythm in the music like good spark plugs in an engine the race to the finish line seriously is effected wouldn't you say? It has proven itself thousands of times...and when the music is in the grove...well, there is no denying what it can do to lift the level to it's hightest possabilities of excitement.

Great at one thing?

I have mentioned this many times but it seems to be more relative now than in the past. We all have some need to progress...for me it has about always wanting to be in that magical group...the one that has the prowess and the rhythm as a group to be capitvating in their field of Art but as many of us find out for the million reasons it doesn't happen we resoort to alternate ways. You remember in the early days, the guitar player or the singer that everyone talked about to the point of discust...it's not that there was anything wrong with them, it just wasn't me. Now this is not about stardom or being an idol but more to the point being part of a good Band. Sad part is there is not a lot of that that gets any further than the first year of playing together. Personally I play alot of Musical Instruments...I am an Engineer, a Producer and a Singer as well, I write and publish my own lyrics...and I record and distribute my completed music with great joy with no budget and no income as a result of my effort except the love I have for the music I craft...some not so good, some not bad. I am not what one would call exceptional at anyone thing...maybe consistant but thats because my focus is about the song above all else. It's taken decades to get here and I am still learning...and as far as performances go...it's the whole package or it's nothing. We all have a desire but the problem with doing everything yourself is there is bound to be times that the mix is just moderate compared to marvalous. I come from the 60's and 70's as far as music is concerned. Rhythm is everything...without it melody rarely happens...all any of us can do is try. Rock till you drop!
