Electric Stump

One night only Honey Stump joined forces with members of the Motherwells to become electrified. Chris Steffen of Steffonic Records decided to capture the show live. I am so glad he did because these performances are raw and rocking. We tapped into some transcendental mojo that night that I will never forget. Enjoy!

To tour or not to tour

I remember feeling like we did all we could do locally. We played the clubs, we opened for national acts, we made the newspaper, and we made public access tv. What's next? Should we send our stuff to Saddle Creek Records in Omaha? Sitting on my porch talking about hitting the road and what it would do to our jobs. Shortly after that I got a new job, better pay and more responsibility. So the tour, the label never took place. We just kept writing and recording songs until eventually the band fizzled out. Jeff and Mitch formed Blood and Ready which began with some of Honey Stump leftovers (really good leftovers). The songs Mapmaker and Tiny Jewels later turned into B and R songs. I'll post them eventually. B and R was darker, better or more seasoned players by that time, and told more of a story. They were great. They released 3 CD's and I offered some harmonica on a few songs. We're all still friends and I think of a reunion from time to time. I have sold my soul again to the blues and play in the Honeyboy Turner Band almost every weekend. Maybe someday the HS will rear it's head again. - John

B Sides

I found some HS B-Sides that never made out of the studio. I will be posting 5 of them soon. In the meantime, so much music, so little time.

Blast from the Past Honey Stump Returns

Hey everyone, I have been fronting blues bands for over 20 years playing all over the midwest doing the "white boy blues thing" as best as I know how. In 2004 my good friend Jeff Iwanski through together this experimental original band call Honey Stump. In 2 years time we recorded so many original tunes and released 3 CD on Lone Prairie Records (4 if you count the Electric Stump live EP). I loved this band and what we cranked out. It's time to get these songs out there and I hope you enjoy them. I will add some every day until there is no more to add. Thanks!
