Review from Olé Magazine by Jean Pougnet, In English & Francaise

Hope you all enjoy, more great reviews coming and on the road again in a few days!! Love to everyone!!!

January 23 2013

The trio of Jersey Julie on vocals, sax and percussion, Olivier Mas on guitar and vocals and Stéphane Blanc on bass was joined on a few tracks from guests to contribute to the work.

Next to the reprises of old roots blues's most famous contributors such as Arthur Crudup, Son House and Mississippi John Hurt there are newer songs of rockabilly by Carl Perkins or a beautiful interpretation I Wish You Would written by Billy Boy Arnold.

Even if these reprises are of good quality, it is not the most interesting. In fact, half of the album is made up of compositions by Jersey Julie and Olivier Mas and who have discovered a beautiful palette of inspiration with a happy country rock/blues such as Great Chance, a song titled Red Riding Hood that resonates like a Janis Joplin force or Hope No Gal where the sax sounds tinged African licks and rhythm. All this is served by the beautiful voice of Jersey Julie and her communicative energy.

Great Times and Great Chances

We are on the road all the time - and love it - we always get home just in time - just before that "speeding ticket must be paid by this date" comes due OR a pipe bursts in the house ... we make it alright all the time - more than 170 concerts a year, and maybe I'll even get 2 days vacation this week and go hide away in some cabin. So here I am, at home and about to hit the streets tonight on a Monday night - big party in the town in Beziers FRANCE - lots of Sangria! We just played a lovely awesome blues festival in St. Izaire France and below is one comment from the organier who bought our new CD a few months ago (without me knowing). He left this comment on the CD Baby website ...

Ben de Boue!! Must have musique It happenned that I know Julie a couple of years now. But listening to this CD strucks me with joy. Amazing sound quality, the voice of Julie full of emotions, and her musicians are lifting her sky high. I nearly forgot to tell you about her saxophone, her little solos, always there!!

On our website, in the next few days, you can read many great comments from all over the world about us or the CD - www.jerseyjulie.com

In the mean time I want to say thanks to all the great friends and fans and musicians and teachers of all disciplines, who have given us and taught everything along the way. Love Jersey Julie (FROM MATAWAN NJ)
