BLAH, BLAH, BLAH

≈≈≈/≈≈≈ And, a LA Neil Young's Rust Never Sleeps inverted bookends, the "flip-side" to the previous post~ ≠≠≠#≠≠≠

BLAH BLAH BLAH G. Smith (BMI) —·–·|·–·— I first saw you in the parking lot at Six Flags, You were riding on the back seat of a tram; Saying something about where we were headed, But I didn't pay attention, I didn't give a damn.

I heard, Blah, blah, blah, Yada, yada, yada, I didn't hear a single thing you said; Blah, blah, blah, Yada, yada, yada, Your image stuck inside my head. The only thing that I could do, Was smile as I sat watching you, Everything simply disappeared, Except that buzzing in my ears; Blah, blah, blah, Yada, yada, yada; I couldn't hear a word, You said.

Two years later I'd come to a decision, I bought a ring and practiced what I'd say; When the time was right I simply popped the question, "Yes," is all I recall hearing to this very day.

All the rest was, Blah, blah, blah, Yada, yada, yada, I didn't hear another thing you said; Blah, blah, blah, Yada, yada, yada, Your image stuck inside my head. The only thing that I could do, Was smile as I sat watching you, Everything simply disappeared, Except that buzzing in my ears; Blah, blah, blah, Yada, yada, yada; I couldn't hear another, Word, you said.

And I can't believe how quickly time has flown, And suddenly all the kids're grown. You think I'm going deaf, But I have always known,

It's been, Blah, blah, blah, Yada, yada, yada, I didn't hear a single thing you said; Blah, blah, blah, Yada, yada, yada, Your image stuck inside my head. The only thing that I can do, Is smile as I sit watching you, Everything simply disappears, Except that buzzing in my ears; Blah, blah, blah, Yada, yada, yada; I couldn't hear, A word, You've said.

YADA, YADA, YADA

The day 14 prompt at Poetic Asides was to take a common phrase, use it as the title, and write away...

YADA, YADA, YADA G. Smith (BMI) ≈=≠=≈ I asked you again, Where you have been, You said, "Just out with the girls;" When you start tellin' lies, You get that look in your eyes, And start playin' with your amber curls.

Yeah, you should've called me, And said you'd be late; But time just got away from you all, You didn't mean for me to sit up and wait. And you think that this time you've stalled me,

But, Yada, yada, yada, Blah, blah, blah; I've heard, those words, before; Yada, yada, yada, blah, blah, blah, I don't, wanna hear, any more. Yada, yada, yada, blah, blah, blah, I can't, hear a thing, you're sayin'; Yada, yada, yada, blah, blah, blah, I ain't part of, this game, you're playin'.

I come home, the pots are cold, The coffee must be hours old, And you didn't leave a note on the door; There's laundry in the dryer, And the basket's piled higher, And you say you can't take any more.

You're sure you wanna try me? You don't think I've had enough? You think you can deny me? Go ahead and call my bluff;

And you'll say, Yada, yada, yada, waa, waa, waa; I don't, wanna hear, you cryin', Yada, yada, yada, waa, waa, waa; I don't, wanna hear, your lying. Yada, yada, yada, blah, blah, blah, I can't, hear a thing, you're sayin'; Yada, yada, yada, blah, blah, blah, I'm done with, this game, you're playin'.

GUILTY

That's the one word prompt for today, 4/12, from the April PAD Challenge at writersdigest.com/editor-blogs/poetic-asides. ≈≠≈≠≈ GUILTY G. Smith (BMI) ≈≈≈≠≈≈≈ Who didn't put the cap on the toothpaste? Who squeezed it from the middle of the tube? Who put the ice tray back in the freezer, With only one cube? Only one cube?

Who left the car parked out in the driveway, With the gas gauge resting on "E"? Whose phone rang in church on Sunday? We all know that would be me, be me, We all know that would be me.

Guilty, as charged, Guilty as sin; I'm guilty, it's easy to see; I admit, I confess, It's my own little mess, I'm guilty as guilty can be.

Who didn't put the seat down last night? Who left the dirty glass in the sink? Who didn't call on his way home from work? Who do you think? Who do you think?

Who left one cookie alone in the jar? Who washed the whites with a red? Who left a swallow of milk in the fridge? Who didn't make up the bed, the bed? Who didn't make up the bed?

Guilty, as charged, Guilty as sin; I'm guilty, it's easy to see; I admit, I confess, It's my own little mess, I'm guilty as guilty can be. I'm guilty as guilty can be. ≈≈≠≈≈

RUTH'S SONG

From today's April PAD Challenge prompt: TRAVEL (Find this, and more, at writersdigest.com/editor-blogs/poetic-asides) ––—–– RUTH'S SONG G. Smith (BMI) ——–__––– I'm going, wherever, you're going; I'm going, wherever, you're bound; I'm going, wherever, you're going; That's where, I want to, be found.

I'm leaving, whenever, you're leaving; Heading out, whenever, you are; I'm leaving, whenever, you're leaving; And I'll follow, no matter, how far.

It's a mighty world world we live in, And we're only passing through, But it's a small, small part we share; I want to share it all with you.

I'll walk, as far as, you're walking; I'll ride, as far as you'll ride; I walk, as far as, you're walking, Just let me, be right at, your side. So long as, I'm right by, your side.

SO SOON, SO FAR GONE

Here's my quick reply for the 2017 April PAD Challenge for Day 9 prompt ~ Complete the phrase: SO _______

SO SOON, SO FAR GONE © 2017 - G. Smith (BMI) ««:::»» Another Saturday night and I ain’t got nobody, And then I see you walking in the door; I take the chance and I walk up and ask you, You say yes and then you join me on the floor.

So soon, so far gone; Head over heels after only one song. One look, one smile; Head over heels after only one song.

The night flew by and before it was over, I knew you knew and felt the same way, too. It wasn’t long before I would ask you, And you would answer with those two words, “I do.”

So soon, so far gone; Head over heels after only one song. One look, one smile; Head over heels after only one song.

Another Saturday night and our baby’s excited, She’s met somebody and she’s sure he’s the one; We know from her eyes that there’s no need to ask her, Takes us back to how to how we’d begun.

So soon, so far gone; Head over heels after only one song. One look, one smile; Head over heels after only one song.

Head over heels after only one song.

RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME

The APRIL PAD PROMPT today, 4/7, was DISCOVERY.

Here's what I uncovered.

RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME G. Smith (BMI) –·–|–·– We grew up across the street from each other, Rode the bus into school every day. We were best friends in the usual sense, In every kind of way.

We shared adventures and secrets, About all the things we'd do. But didn't talk about girls at all, When suddenly I knew;

There she was the whole time, Right in front of me; Why I never saw it; Why was I too blind to see? She smiled and stopped me in my tracks, No way I was ever turning back, There she was the whole time, Right in front of me.

Guys aren't always aware of the truth, Even when it's before our eyes; And sometimes it's the simplest facts, That come as a complete surprise.

And, There she was the whole time, Right in front of me; Why I never saw it; Why was I too blind to see? She smiled and stopped me in my tracks, No way I was ever turning back, There she was the whole time, Right in front of me.

That was years and kids ago, We're older now, times three, And here she's been the whole time, Right in front of me.

FORK IN THE ROAD

The 4/4 PAD prompt was a 2-fer-Tuesday - either, and/or: • an ending • a beginning

Here's my scribble for the day...

FORK IN THE ROAD G. Smith (BMI) ===•===•===•=== Driving through the country, Heading west toward Rivertown, I came up on the turn to Cedar Grove; I’d never made that right before, Despite how much I drove.

I knew where this would take me, But not where that one went; One road bends, another begins, And I knew what that meant.

When you come to the fork in the road, just take it; Stand and think too long, you won’t make it. Other folks will pass you by, The sun and stars will cross the sky, Time itself will fly, fly, fly. When you come to the fork in the road, just take it.

I never made it to Rivertown, I’d been out there before, But I found the way to Cedar Grove, Led me to your door.

Who knows where this may take us, But we’ll go there side by side. One journey ends, another begins, Looks like a long, long ride.

And when we come to the fork in the road, we’ll take it; Stand and think too long, we won’t make it. Other folks will pass us by, The sun and stars will cross the sky, Time itself will fly, fly, fly. When we come to the fork in the road, we’ll take it. We’ll take it.

WINGS OF LOVE

Still piddling with 2017 April PAD Challenge: Day 3 ~ [BLANK] OF LOVE.

This is a bluegrass attempt...

WINGS OF LOVE © 2017 G. Smith (BMI)

I’m lifted up by wings of love, Wings of love, wings of love, Flying like that snow white dove; Lifted up by love.

There was a time when I was down, No one around, no one found; Loneliness was all I could see, Till love lifted me.

And I’m lifted up by wings of love, Wings of love, wings of love, Flying like that snow white dove; Lifted up by love.

Who’d’ve thought my life could change? It feels so strange, because of a Name; A Carpenter in Galilee; His love lifted me.

Now I’m lifted up by wings of love, Wings of love, wings of love, Flying like that snow white dove; Lifted up by love.

What I’ve done is in the past, It won’t last, because I asked, He said I would be set free, His love lifted me.

And I’m lifted up by wings of love, Wings of love, wings of love, Flying like that snow white dove; Lifted up by love,

Flying like that snow white dove; Lifted up by love.

RULES OF LOVE

2017 April PAD Challenge: Day 3 prompt was complete the phrase [BLANK] OF LOVE.

Here's a country shot at it...

RULES OF LOVE © 2017 G. Smith (BMI) ====•==== Big Mama was saintly, ‘Bout as saintly as could be, She knew her Bible, and Shared it with me.

David and Goliath, Noah and his ark, So many stories, She knew by heart.

The Babe in the manger, The stone rolled away, That great crowd of witnesses On that glorious day.

But the verses most cherished, Passed down from above, Written by Paul, she called, Her rules of love.

Be patient, be kind, Don’t look for trouble, but still don’t be blind. Don’t envy, don’t brag; Don’t be proud, and don’t nag, Don’t get angry easily, Always hope and hang on Always trust and protect, And you’ll always love long.

I’ve learned since those days, Not all were Paul’s words, Big Mama’s translation, Is the one that I that I heard.

In spite of King James, To this very day, I give thanks that I have it, Each time that I pray.

Be patient, be kind, Don’t look for trouble, but still don’t be blind. Don’t envy, don’t brag; Don’t be proud, and don’t nag, Don’t get angry easily, Always hope and hang on Always trust and protect, And you’ll always love long.

=====||==== (2 Corinthians 13:4-8 REALLY says: 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. - NIV)
