Random shit

Sometimes, when you love music and its what you do, you sit back and say....is it good enough, is what I am doing really going to stand out and say what I want to say. Am I just another random voice in the crowd that goes unheard and is easily forgotten. It happens. I love what we do as a band and I love what I do for the band, but is it enough. Well we had a practice tonight and let me tell you...it is good enough, the music is saying what needs to be said and we are more than just another voice in the crowd. We added a new song to our set list and I am most pleased with the fact that we keep evolving. Threat Level Rising reaches back into the dark recesses of our memory and grabs that which we have forgotten.....PUNK. Screw trendy emo bullshit and Hot topic wannabes....we play shit because it means something to us.....all we can do is pour our souls into our songs and hope it appeals to someone....if even one person...because thats who we are....

Upcoming Album

We are finally ready to release our debut album. With more than 15 hours spent in the studio, we are ready for this baby to see the light of day. We have released a few cuts for our fans to hear until the full album release. This will be a full length album of 13 songs and it will release June 6th. Thanks to everyone who helped make this happen.

Grass Roots

Time keeps flying by and as we get closer to the release of our album, I begin looking at the shows required to support thet album. It can be difficult at times to schedule shows in venues that will maximize a bands exposure. Don't get me wrong, I'd be happy if five people liked TLR music. But, only if i exhausted all avenues of exposure and ended up with five people who liked the music.

I would like to see a grass roots movement among the indie punk bands in which they come together and put on a freakin huge show. Like the Warp Tour was supposed to be. I would like to reach out to five, six, or even ten other indie punk bands and say, "Lets tear this shit up!" That would be something to see. I'd like to find a venue that could hold 300 or 400 people and see a two day evebt of nothing but straight indie punk. One can only imagine the sheer carnage.

The Revolution is Real

I, like many of you, can't stand watching celebrities and musicians parading around with numerous ribbons pasted on their clothing for the countless causes the support. Most of these people read a headline and jump on some bandwagon of support for something they don't even have any knowledge about. Threat Level Rising doesn't wear ribbons, we don't have foundations or charities. We believe in the freedoms granted us by the constitution. We don't lean right or left, we are firmly planted on the side of the people. We don't want to be soapbox preachers, but we wan't our music to be a wake up call for all people. Goverments seek to protect their own power, not yours. Love yourself, love your fellow man and band together in resistance to oppression.

Who are we?

Threat Level Rising comes directly from the creative juices of Rick F. & Robb F. These brothers grew up listening to local acts like Capital Punishment, Sad Boys, and I Mad Man as well as international acts like The Exploited, The Misfits, and Minor Threat to name a few. The brothers embraced the culture of punk as it made sense with their lives.

Watching as real hardcore punk began to fade into mainstream pop punk was very difficult for the bothers as they saw their roots disappearing. It was in 1991 that the brothers formed their first punk band called Mad at Me and attempted to recapture the essence of hardcore punk. After a two years in the garage and having never seen the light of a stage, the band broke up with the passing of their guitarist. The brothers continued to write music, but never joined another band. Now after several years of watching the death of Hardcore punk, the brothers have decided to attack the scene with all of the ferocity of an Agnostic Front mosh pit. They formed their new band with Thrawttle bassist Greg T. and Bruiser Brothers Drummer, Brandon S. to bring you their take on the hardcore punk scene. Threat Level Rising believe that Punks Not Dead.

First blog

What's up out there in Reverbnation. This is our first blog for our page and I want to tell you what we are all about.

Threat Level Rising is the brain child of brothers Rick F. and Robb F. For us punk isn't a fad or genre, it really is how we grew up. We have always appreciated the music of bands like The Misfits, Minor Threat, Exploited, and GBH and wanted to bring that back. Punk has moved into a more mainstream flavor, which is not to say it is all bad, but it has left a hole where traditional punk used to be. So we gathered up Greg T. from Thrawttle and Brandon S. formely of the Bruiser Brothers and began recreating that old school punk feel.

It has been 8 months since we started and we feel we are finding that sound we were looking for. We will continue to show respect to our punk roots while finding our own way within the music. Those of you who are along for the ride, Thanks!!
