Band of the Month: September and October 2012

Hi everybody! Sorry for the long overdue post but I've been putting some touches to my debut EP recently - not long to go until it's release! I'll be For September, Band of the Month is LYLE WATT. His influences of Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Paul Gilbert amongst others shine through on his playing and he has released an EP entitled "Homegrown". Definitely a guitarist worth noticing! As for his videos on YouTube: wow! MUST HEAR: Slowdown, Highway Star (on YouTube - blew me away!) www.lylewatt.co.uk www.facebook.com/lylewattguitar www.reverbnation.com/lylewatt www.youtube.com/kirkhetfieldtrujillo And now onto Band of the Month for October 2012: MINOR DELILAH Minor Delilah are a Glaswegian indie band with strong resemblance to the sound of Snow Patrol and Kings of Leon with added influences from The Beatles, Foo Fighters and Coldplay. "Needles in the Hay" is a good foot-stomper and "Lights" is a cheery stand-out tune but "The Chase" is a hauntingly brilliant ballad that really shines out to everybody. MUST HEAR: The Chase www.reverbnation/minordelilah

Hi everyone! August 2012's Band of the Month is UN7T. They have just released a searing new album entitled "It All Starts Here". If you're a fan of melodic hard rock (Deep Purple and Guns 'N' Roses/Velvet Revolver/Slash fans will love this). Definitely one to watch out for!

Band of the Month: July 2012

Hello folks!

July 2012's Band of the Month is THE MASSES. "Variety" seems to be the way for these guys - a mixture of rock, funk, blues, acoustic, electronic and pop resulted in the release of their debut album "Twiceborn" in March this year. This is a shining example of "Do It Yourself" as the whole album was written, recorded, mixed and produced in the home studio of the band's guitarist Andy Isacsson (who happens to be my uncle - he's gonna hate me for saying that now). The band are currently writing a follow up album whilst growing a reputation as a popular live act in Glasgow.

Or on their own website: http://the-masses.net/

Must hear: RETROSPECT

I'll be back with August's Band of the Month soon.

Thanks.

Andy.

Band of the Month: June 2012

Hi everyone! Hope all is well.

As promised, I have been listening to various different genres of music on ReverbNation over the last month (a busy month for me - I've been writing new songs, celebrating my birthday and settling back into the UK after my year in Huesca, Spain) and I have decided that my Band of the Month for June 2012 is JOHN ALEXANDER. His guitar technique is simply sublime and his vocals bear resemblance to artists like Harry Chapin, Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters. Definitely one of the finest songwriters in Glasgow today!

Check John's page out at: http://www.reverbnation.com/hotlemon

Must hear: SILVER & BLUE

I'll be back soon with July's Band of the Month.

Thanks.

Andy

New "Band of the Month" feature!

I've decided I'm going to do this to spread awareness of bands online who I particularly enjoy listening to here on a monthly basis. I'll listen to all genres and give my honest opinion on the artist's songs as well.

To start off, my band of the month for May is "The Vibe" from Dumbarton, Scotland. The guitarist and I are from the same university (University of Strathclyde, Glasgow) - although he graduates this year - and they are truly an amazing quartet in alternative rock having only been around as a band for 3 months or so. They recently released their first single "Nothing Wrong With Being Wrong" and it really does sound great. They're racking up a healthy portfolio of gigs in their hometown as well as in Glasgow and they will also be supporting Nine Black Alps' lead singer Sam Forrest at The Attic Bathgate on June 30th (yes, I will be getting in amongst the crowd too), so that's definitely something worth going to see.

Thanks. I'm now going to be listening over the next month and I'll be back soon with June's Band of the Month.

Thanks!

Andy.
