Sonic Outcast / Blog

JAN 7 / SO IT BEGINS

Ladies and gentlemen,

Sonic Outcast has finished pre-production.

Today we finished fine tuning our set and song structures and are ready to head into the studio to record our bed tracks for future reference when we begin to track our individual parts. We'll be moving into The Armoury for a while to record drums and really put the nose to the grindstone.

This week has been crazy with alot of long work hours, but it was worth every moment. We had an amazing time making our songs better and having GGGarth's input on all of our tracks, as his insight was extremely valuable to us. We've made some songs that we weren't initially happy with sound alot better and songs that we personally liked sound great.

Stay tuned for more updates when we go to the Armoury on Monday and when things start to really pick up.

Stangl

JAN 6 / REASON TO BE

Hey folks,

Another day, another three songs nailed down; today's match up was "Nevertone", "Parallel", and "The Vice". We tweaked, we cannibalized, and we worked towards creating something great with the help of our producer and supporting crew. The studio has been kind to us so far, and we can't wait to show everyone what we've come up with.

We'll be doing some overtime and working this weekend to finish up pre-production and get prepared to begin the official recording process, starting with Eliot tearing up the skins on his beautiful drum kit. While the work is hard, the love is far more important and we are having an amazing time.

Stay tuned as we get even further into the recording process.. and we have a video blog coming very shortly so keep an eye out for some twisted humour coming your way!

Horns,

Baron

JAN 5 / MBP

Hey people,

Today was another very productive day for us at Fader Mountain Studios with Garth Richardson. We fine tuned and finished five more songs, including 'Fixiate' and 'Changing Horizons' today. As of now, we're halfway through pre-production and are really putting it in gear.

After working on our songs today, we invited a few of our friends over to the studio for a few drinks and to hang out. We all had a blast and showed them around the place where we make the magic happen.

Stay tuned for some more info and a video blog to come very, very shortly.

Cheers,

Baron

JAN 4 / TRES

Hey folks,

Today marks the third day of the recording process, and third day of pre-production. Things were very productive today as we worked through some of our songs, fine tuning and tweaking them to perfection with the guidance and advice and Garth Richardson. Things were scrapped, created and re-engineered all in the name of creating an unique and memorable debut record.

We've been having some great jams and have been learning new things for the past three days and we can't thank the people who are working with us right now enough. Their insight and contributions have been extremely valuable to us and we can't wait for everyone to hear what it will all come to.

We hope you liked our most recent video blog. There is far more to come and we love bringing the experiences we have at the studio straight to everyone's computers so make sure you check them out for some extremely twisted humour and other cool footage.

Stay tuned boys and girls,

Das Baron

JAN 3 / P-PRO

Oh wow, a new blog so fast!

Yes, we'll be getting alot more punctual with the blogs as production of the album continues. Today was the second day of pre-production and we sat down with Garth and worked on some of our songs and set list, debating and discussing which tracks we'd like to have recorded on the album. It was an interesting and productive experience as we discussed the various factors behind our music and had some one who was very musically inclined to provide their honest, no punches pulled feedback. We are extremely happy to be working with Garth to make this record happen.

We've filmed tons of new video footage, so expect another video blog up soon. We hope you liked the newest one as it only scratches the surface as to how we should all be strapped in a straight jacket together (Garth even noted this) and we'll be trying to upload them as frequently as possible. We'll be filming things every day so keep coming back and seeing what we've concocted.

Tomorrow is the third day of pre-production, and we're stoked to right back at it again. Keep coming back for more blogs and other goodies from your Sonic boys.

Horns,

The Baron

JAN 2 / ARRIVAL

Ladies and gentlemen, the time is upon us.

Sonic Outcast has officially entered the studio with Garth Richardson to produce their ten track debut album.

We want to thank everyone who helped us come this far so fast and offered their support through the past couple months, as we really couldn't do it without the friends and family who have been behind us with their hearts. It has meant so much to us that we have these kind of people in our lives and stories of success are built on the people who've helped us build what we have today.

Today we moved into our new studio and set up shop with all of our equipment. Needless to say, the place is a hell of alot better then our last, and we're way pumped to have moved in as fast as we did. It is our great honour to announce that we are also the first band to officially record at this studio, and we hope to make the most out of such a great opportunity to have the brand new studio have as strong and reputable name as the people who are making this happen for us.

We had our second meeting with Garth today and we'll be officially moving into pre-production with Garth tomorrow afternoon where we will discuss and select the songs from our original set list to be recorded on the album. It will be a tough call, as we are happy with all of the songs that we worked towards creating, but there can only be ten.. at least for now.

We'll be in the studio, five days a week, working relentlessly towards making this the best album we can possibly make it. We'll also be doing some video blogging over the next few weeks so make sure you keep checking back for some great audio/visual material. We're sort of a funny bunch, for all the right (mostly wrong) reasons, so give it a chance and see if you're either horribly disgusted or pleasantly amused.

We're super thrilled to have this opportunity, and even more happier that you'll be reading along with us as we go through this process. Stay tuned, fans.

Horns,

Baron

DEC 28 / COUNTDOWN PT. 2

Hey everybody,

We've been very hard at work as of the past few days, creating even more original material and creating tons of new and interesting ideas for the album. We've been in our studio (which we'll be leaving within three days time) clocking in huge hours and perfecting our 20 track song list for when we go into the studio on January 2nd.

Besides the perfecting our original songs, we've been also focusing on the business aspect with having met with our photographer Victoria and illustrator Ilya to get some new promotional pictures and our logo finalized. Both have been essential and amazing assets for the band and we cannot give them enough credit for what they have done. If you haven't checked out their respective Facebook pages or artwork yet at Victoria Woodbridge Photography and Ilya V Art, we highly recommend them.

Tune in within the next few days for our status as we finally close in on the dates where we will begin recording our debut album.

Horns up,

Baron

DEC 26 / COUNTDOWN

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls,

The countdown has begun. It's less then one week before we hit the studio and go into pre-production with Garth Richardson and the gang. It's been an extremely hectic past few months and we're glad that our friends, family and fans have been with us throughout our whole ride through this unbelievably fun, stressful, hilarious and overall ridiculous creative process.

It's been crunch time with the boys and the holidays have done little to get in our way. We're carving a war path through our set and are still bouncing ideas back and forth getting ready for the new year and the album.

The holidays treated us all well and we got right back to work immediately on Boxing Day. We spent a day re-working one of our new songs that's quite epic and we're sure you'll love - we'll be fitting it in on our set list at our next gig.

We're still looking for a few high quality bands with lots of fans to get in touch with us so we can "hook up".. so if any of you readers would like to join us on stage and rock the hell out of one of the great venues around Vancouver, give us a shout.

Happy holidays and horns up,

Baron

PS:

In case you haven't noticed.. something has been afoot on our scheduled show page. But the real details for those bad boys will come... in time.

DEC 23 / ROLLING

Hey folks,

Sorry about the delay with the blogs lately! We've been very busy with the album coming up in no time, event planning and all of the other Christmas things that we've been involved with over the past week.

We're only a week and a half away from going into production with Mr. Garth Richardson, and boy, are we excited. We can't wait to lay down some tracks and let you guys get an earful. It's been a long time coming and we're psyched to lay it all down for all of our fans, friends and family. We love you guys.

On a side note, our very talented artist friend Ilya has been hard at work drawing us up a new logo for us to use and, from what we've seen, it's going to be sick. Moreover, our photographer friend Victoria Woodbridge has a date with us next week for some more promo pictures for a pretty big announcement we have coming up within the next few days.

The band has been good, with all of us focusing on setting the tone for the kind of work that we'll be getting into this January. This has ranged from serious discussions that touched upon heavy subjects to the kind of conversations we had on the car ride home from the studio today which was, arguably, one of the most offensive dialogues any of us have ever had in our entire lives.

For those who haven't heard it yet, we uploaded one of our songs 'Reason To Be', so if you haven't given it a listen yet, check it out. It's a staple of our setlist and we hope you love it.

We have a pretty massive announcement coming within the next few blogs so keep checking the site for more updates from your boys. We'll also be uploading more songs for your audio pleasure within the next week or so, so stay tuned for all new original Sonic Outcast.

Cheers, Merry Christmas, and horns up,

Baron

DEC 17 / WHAT A NIGHT

Ladies and gentlemen,

What a night at the Railway Club last night! We were thrilled to see what was a packed house of our friends, family and fans come out to the show and watch us play with a couple great bands, The Stone Travelers and Quit the City.

We played our all original thirteen track set and heard lots of good things from the audience members and we are absolutely thrilled to hear the feedback from you guys. In order to make this album, we need to here what YOU guys thought was your favourite tunes from the show. Our tracklist was:

The Collapse Abandon Black Reason To Be Led By The Blind Symbiotic Beauty Fixiate Acid Theatre Changing Horizons Nevertone The Vice Domino Fear Parallel

For those who can remember all the hooks, or have listened to the recordings, give us a shout as it's critical we hear from the people who crammed into the Railway Club to hear our sound. You guys are a huge part of what we are and there's always lots of fun, beer, excitement and beer at our shows... so if you haven't come out to one of them, make sure you do next time!

The Stone Travelers and Quit the City were an absolutely brilliant addition to the bill and we look forward to playing some more venues in the future with them. Keep an eye out for both of these guys as they have an unique sound and a blistering stage presence that we were very happy to head bang with on stage.

Tune in within the next few days for some more news. Winter break is upon us for those who were cursed with school and we're now wheeling, dealing, snapping necks and cashing cheques.

Cheers,

DAS VON BARON
