Aneesa Chaudhry Gigs, Choirs, Coaching & workshops / Blog

Where's the time flying?!

Helloo peeps!

Things are sooo ridiculously busy at the moment that I have decided to write a quick blog and not worry about it being all nice & perfect. So here goes, I am in Munich with my twin sister, daddy & younger brother and my twin Aisha has made such a lovely effort to create a true family Christmas vibe. I am very lucky she loves to cook delicious food!

Prior to coming here I have spent several speedy weeks with the most amazing friends & musicians putting together gigs and concerts, the most exciting of which is my first ever tour to Slovenia with the amazingly talented Jana Cadez Amali & Mojca Monte. Together with the rockin talented Nadine Baker (and lots of other contributions from friends that are still on the go), we have written, performed and just recorded (all in the space of about 2 months), 4 original songs!

We are taking the album which we are calling 'On The Edge' to Slovenia on Wednesday and have a plan A, plan B and plan C in case any of our airports, bus terminals and train stops are closed to make sure we make the gig in the capital on 30th Dec!

Tickets are selling fast with the help of Jana & Mojca's amazing people in Slovenia and our fingers are crossed that we will sell lots of tickets and CD's. If you fancy a great gig, come along! Details are in the gigs and shows section! And, if you would like to buy a CD, please let me know asap. All support appreciated and of course we think the tunes are great. There are also a few secret surprises on the CD, not mentioned on the artwork for those of you who buy one! You can buy them from £10 from us at: www.aneesachaudhry.com/payments (just click on gig tickets as I haven't had a chance to set up a payment option on the CD page yet!).

Well, we need to get ready for the day now! More from me hopefully again before too long. I've been a little snowed under with tooooo much to do lately so haven't got Hootsuite back on my mobile yet. When it's back, you'll know about it because i'll be bombarding you all with my progress!

Big Festive snowy, -11 degree hug from Munich! Love Aneesa xx

Big London Gig... Big Scary Feelings!

Yay... and OH NO! I’ve got a big London gig! Through my lovely friend Sam the Sound Engineer. It’s at Ginglik, in West London, on my birthday, 12 November. http://www.ginglik.co.uk/. I am petrified.

I’ve spent the afternoon with my best friend from school, Em Miles, talking through why I’m feeling really nervous. Bottom line is, I want to do some new, original material. I think singing some originals as well as the covers I love, is the way to start getting some attention from the music industry. But will any be ready by then?

I’ve got half a song running round my head at the moment (‘Talk/ don’t you know that I’m right beside you baby/ dum, de dum de dum....Because it’s alright”... with some funky rhythm happening) but shouldn’t I be starting to perform my original material right now. It’s only 6 weeks away!!

And I’ve got to sell at least 30 tickets. Is it too early to ask if you’d like to come?! If you’re interested - go to the payments section on my website, www.aneesachaudhry.com. )http://www.aneesachaudhry.com/payments/)

We talked about how to write songs. On the bus? At a piano? Do you need a whole day to do it or 15 minutes... I’m going to experiment in the next few weeks. And I’ve already had some offers from some really talented songwriters of lyrics, and melodies, which I want to try and make something of. Collaboration and creativity. My two new favourite words.

A taste of living in the world of AneesaDiva

I’ve just got back to the real world after spending a week singing at the 10th Anniversary of the Lesbos Women’s Festival. In short I’ve had people wanting to kiss me, dance with me, take sneaky pics of me when I’m not looking, getting mates to stand next to me then snapping away so I wouldn’t see and fans approaching me every day for a week including at the airport and on the plane

Hence, it’s taking me a little while to come back down to earth. I think this is the life I’m really meant to be leading!

Maybe there's a manager out there for me 'Somewhere' Aneesa x

Oxford Jazz Fest Radio Interview & Track played

There's a bit of extra banter between the radio station hosts after they've interviewed me and they also play a track from my new DUENDE album, Rest In Peace.

Listen to here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0074bb4 It starts at about 37 mins into the recording! ---------------------------------------------------

Don't forget, i'd love help with raising my profile online. You can leave a comment online somewhere, eg Jazzwise Magazine, Oxford Jazz Festival website or anywhere that you think may help spread word about me as an artist.

Enjoy the interview! Aneesa

Thanks 4 new album support & cycle nerves!

Hi everyone,

First up, thanks to all of you who have requested a copy of my new album 'Duende' to listen to. A lot of work went into making it so thanks and here's looking forward to the future!

It's 23:26pm and i've just packed my bags ready for work followed by a big weekend of cycling and yes, I am slightly nervous! This will be my first solo 26 mile ride without my fave coaches Jan & Jo. Sounds simple but it requires serious map reading or satnav observation, booking my bike onto trains, cycling short and long routes including Ladbroke Grove to Kensington (should be ok), followed by Kensington to St Pancras (may be busy but again, just got to keep my alertness & energy up!). Then Sheffield to Mailin Bridge. THEN Sheffield to Huddersfield! OMG! Then i'm taking the train to Bingley (with a change at Leeds) and finally arrive in Bingley...before the retun to Sheff the next day! Why am I doing this i hear myself ask? Because I need to get more bum to saddle time down in preparation for the hills & duration of the Isle of Skye sportif! And note, my map reading skills aren't great but we've just worked out how to programme the satnav. In the words of thhe fabulous band Queen, 'I want to ride my bicyle'!!! I mean, how hard can it be!

Wish me luck!!! Aneesa x

Oxford Jazz Festival Success!

Well, it's the morning after the night before and I'm sitting here on the bank holiday monday in my family home waiting for everyone (except daddy whose been up for hours already), to surface! Yesterday was great! The vibe of Summertown Wine Cafe, the sun, blue sky and the band all lived up to my expectations! I had a nervous kind of energy but I think that was because I hardly knew anyone at the gig. Brilliant hey! AND I sold a batch of my new DUENDE album! :-) Now comes the hard bit of following everything up and hoping it helps get word about me to the right places. I was really touched that Aisha & Petra came from Germany, Jan & Jo from London, Don et al from Japan & Arizona!!! Missed Nadine not being there but her texts from India came through with best wishes:-) I had such a chilled out day in all. Bliss! Aneesa x
