Evening on the Avenue

Jackie Brown & the Boys rocked South Milwaukee this last week and it was good to be there. Saw a lot of friends make it down and everyone seemed darn happy! One of the best moments was Duane's flute solo taking on a life of its own for everyone's enjoyment. Great weather too!

TomKatz electric debut

Thanks to my friends who made it out to see the TomKatz electric duo last Thursday. The Springsteen and Van Halen cameos seemed to go over well, and I was happy to hear folks singing along to my original songs! Rocco's Bar & Hall was pleasantly rocked, and TomKatz will be returning there for a show on Thursday, August 11th!

Singing in Sturgeon

Played a duo show Sunday afternoon with "Writing on the Wall" overlooking the water at the Stone Harbor Resort in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin. It was the first time Bryce Hass and I shared the stage in 15 years - far too long! Afterwards, I went over to the Holiday Musicmotel and enjoyed a solo concert by Water Salas-Humara of The Silos in the excellent-sounding studio there.

Moore Studio Magic

Brought Danny Moore and his Roland 88 key to the studio last night for a hurricane of a recording session. Seven songs...three hours...no problem! Thanks, whiz kid!!

MOOSE

Thanks to everyone who came out and made Friday's dance at the Moose Lodge on south 13th a success! It was the Rockin Robins' first time playing at the hall, and we were grateful to have a real decent turnout on a beautiful summer night, especially with festival season underway. The crowd dressed the part and danced the night away. Also thanks to Danny Moore (from Reverend Raven & the Chain Smokin Altarboys) who filled in on keyboards at the last minute. Danny's playing is dynamite...if you haven't seen him yet...go check it out!

Studio update

Very excited about the happenings this past week down at Nesting Goose Studio/ music sanctuary! Engineer Lanny Hale and myself were graced by the talented Amanda Ellis (Siren), who delivered excellent vocal tracks on the songs "All Night Long" and "Pair of Tens". Craig Fairchild from the (Doo Wop Daddies, Tygers) was on hand, assisting with vocal arranging. Thank you Amanda and Craig! Saturday afternoon brought locked in, groovin tracks, supplied by Mykel Alekzanderh. Mykel (Heat, Gibraltar, etc) recorded drums and percussion on "All Night Long", and we were glad to have his presence and interest at the studio!

Yahoo!

Had a blast playing Saturday night with Yahoo the band. Mykel Alexanderh on drums, and Todd Greene on keys. Jackson's Hole tavern in Lake Geneva had a successful one year anniversary. Fun crowd there! Hope to see you all again at the 2nd anniversary...and many more!

Fun at the Milwaukee Mustangs game

Thanks out to Variety Childrens Charities of Wisconsin, the Milwaukee Mustangs and cheerleaders for putting on the charity event this past Saturday at the Bradley Center. Money was raised to provide special bicycles to special needs children. Jackie Brown & the Boys were glad to help too. We had a great time, and Jackie sang the national anthem before the game!

360 Bar with Jackie Brown & the Boys

Thanks to all the old friends and new that rocked Saturday night with us at Potowatomi Casino. The band had a great time...we like it when you get a little crazy! Special thanks also to Rob who provided us all with excellent in-house sound!

Studio Update

The past week+ saw more progress on the recording project. Award winning flautist Duane McCarthy lent his skills to a song called "Misty Mountain Dew". And on Friday night the 3rd, Katz came down and tracked two songs on his telecaster: "Turn on the Dime" and "Right Down the Wrong Road". Then on Saturday, Rick Holmes brought over his famous checkered upright bass and doubled my basslines on "Pair of Tens". Its starting to come together...thanks guys!
