Te Vaka tour to Hong Kong and Taiwan
We apologise for the lack of blogging, we have been very busy. Te Vaka has been away on tour again - this time to Hong Kong and Taiwan. Audiences in both countries were very excited to see the band perform and the concerts were all packed with very enthusiastic audiences. In Taiwan it was very interesting and exciting for the band as they had the opportunity to go out to the villages to meet with the indigenous Tribes of Taiwan and explore the Austronesian connection. It has been supposed that Polynesians, more than likely, started their journey to Polynesia from Taiwan and yes there are definitely some similarities in the culture, language and the people. Te Vaka and the indigenous tribes had lots of fun sharing art, music and dance and performed together at the 'Dance and Soundz of Austronesia concert' in Taitung.
