review of "A Damn Fine Mixture"

Originality and an appreciate for ones roots is a rare thing in today's music industry. So many stars are manufactured and put in the spotlight in a very rushed format that people forget the days of underground clubs, dark bars with loud, intense music that kept the blood pumping, and most of all, unique music in both vocals, lyrics, and melody. One such band has not forgotten it's roots, and is paying homage to the days of punk rock at it's finest with the release of their upcoming DIY album, A Damn Fine Mixture. That band is The Pests, and they are the definition of originality at its best. Based out of New Orleans, the band is unique in that they aren't interested in making friends, playing nice with music executives or in a big payday, but rather in sticking to their artistic vision and making some kick-ass music. Finding inspiration for their music is difficult, because they are truly unique in an industry full of commercial chameleons. With songs like "I Admit It", "Kill Her Some More", and "Pants On Fire", this album is an intense, heat-searing musical journey that showcases the bands strong DIY attitude and strong pursuit of their artistic vision. The Pests' make themselves known with their music, standing apart from the crowd and producing some truly fantastic music that is very reminescent of old school punk rock. From On Request Magazine If you're a fan of punk rock music, creativity and originality, or just face-melting and kick-ass tunes, then The Pests' "A Damn Fine Mixture" is for you.
