DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS / Blog

Coprolith's Ben Pakarinen joins the band!

Greetings Devils! With great pride and pleasure we’d like to introduce you to the latest addition to the band’s line up. Ladies and gentlemen, we give you Ben Pakarinen known from Finland’s death / black metal hordes Coprolith, Cavus and doom / death metal act Antagonist Zero. Under the BP stage-name he’ll from now on handle the duties of 2nd guitar player and backing vocalist. Welcome on-board brother!

Vraath (bass guitar / backing vocals) quits the band

„People come and go, as they say... We’re sad to inform you that Vraath (bass guitar / backing vocals), our brother-in-arms for the past 7 years, has recently decided to call it quits from DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS due to no longer being able to fully commit himself to the band's crusade. Seeing we've been literally through shit-loads of ups and downs together, both Icanraz and I would like to thank him for his intense part of the Devilish Impressions chapter, and wish him best of luck with all his future endeavors.” – Quazarre.

Vraath joined Devilish Impressions in 2009 and made his studio debut on the band's 2012 "Simulacra" album. Also appeared on the 2015 MLP "Adventvs”, as well as on the coming „The I” album. Vraath's replacement shall be announced shortly.

NEW ALBUM’S TITLE AND COVER ART REVEALED

Poland’s black / death metal act DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS has set “The I" as the title of its new album, due later in the year. The disc was recorded at several studios, including Dobra12 Studio and Icaros Studio to eventually get mixed and mastered at Impressive Art Studio by Przemyslaw Nowak who also handled vocals recording sessions as well as guitars re-amping. The album’s artwork, design and layout were created by Infected Minds. “The I”, a follow-up to the MLP “Adventvs” released last year via Hammerheart Records, is the group’s 4th full-length album and is said to be their darkest, heaviest and most intriguing offering to date…

As commented by the group’s driving force Quazarre of what stands behind the title chosen for their newest record:

“Not only it’s a phonetic acronym of the band’s name (The I = DI) but, above all, it reflects the manifesto we stand for since the horde’s day one, which is the notion of freedom of choice and will, a self-determination that actually places us in a centre of the Universe as we perceive it. A supremacy of an individual over any external factors being imposed on us by others, with special emphasis on religion with its convictions, dogmas and paradigms. “The I” is a rebellious manifesto targeted against all those who stand opposed to anything that drives us towards individual perfection…”

Founded in 2000, formerly as a studio project and transformed into a regular live- band six years later, DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS merges the fierceness of traditional Black and Death metal with a subtle dose of ethereal melodies. Throughout the years they found the right balance between those seemingly opposing elements to eventually create their own, distinctive sonic path. Critically acclaimed records and intense live rituals brought upon mankind while touring all over the Old Continent have earned them an honorable reputation and thus they’ve grown into one of the most intriguing acts to emerge out of Poland’s extreme music scene. Not many bands out there are brave enough to reach beyond their stable framework. DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS, on the contrary, keeps pushing boundaries further out with each consecutive release and it is their unpredictable variability that makes them as dangerous as they are unstoppable.

DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS completes works on the new album.

It’s been a long way to be finally able to share this news with you Devils. Can’t actually believe it myself but… it’s fucking ready!! It took us way over a year to wrap it all up, countless nights spent on writing the music, than working on pre-production, followed by proper recordings afterwards. Did it pay off? Well, we’ll see. We surely worked our asses off, pushed things back and forth to get the best out of it. As a result we’ve got something we are damn proud of, something that we believe surpasses everything we’ve done in the past on all possible levels. Details on the album shall be unveiled in due course so watch this space for further announcements.

Upcoming album update!

Funnily enough, being a control freak or a perfectionist does not necessarily always work well for you, especially when you come across someone who seems to be as fucked up as you are ;-) Apparently, Przemek from Impressive-Art Studio, the guy behind the production of our new record, turned out to be even more effective in making things, errr, complicated? No - not realy - in fact just better and better. Now, having literally gone through dozens of different versions of the album's mixes we've finally got the sound we were craving for! We will most likely be done with it all by the end of the year, maybe at the very beginning of the next one at the latest. Believe me Devils, we're as excited as if it was our first studio-experience ever! Arrgghhhh!!! Q. on behalf of DI

New album in the mixing process!

DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS is currently hard at work on the production (mixes) of their latest, 4th studio record. Comments the band's driving force, Quazarre:

"When entering the studio ( Impressive-Art Studio) we thought we had a clearly defined idea on how the new record was supposed to sound like... Well, after a while, in spite of looking in the same direction, it turned out we were kind of acting in a contradictory manner. And it wasn't about us fighting over which instrument should play the key role here or e.g. which one should get louder, no! Not at all! We simply got stuck, to a certain extent, because of an enormous accumulation of visions that were so different from each other it was impossible to make them work together. Luckily enough it seems we have found the light in the tunnel, finally..."

The title for the album is yet to be revealed while the record itself is said to be the band's most mature, darkest and heaviest offering up to date.

The band finishes recording vocals!

DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS' Quazarre and Vraath have recently finished recording vocals for the band's coming full-length. Here are few words from them:

“Hidden in the mountains Impressive Art Studio appeared to be a perfect choice for getting into the right mood to work on something which by many is described as the most important element of every album... Know what we’re talking of here? Vocals of course! Combining the astonishing surroundings, great atmosphere and Przemyslaw Nowak’s(the studio owner) work ethic as well as his approach and attitude towards the band we had no choice but to outdo ourselves and record something that we believe will cause your hearts beat faster…”

Remaining stages of the recording sessions!

The rest of the recordings for what's to become DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS 4th full-length album will be held at Impressive-Art Studio with Przemysław Nowak behind the console.
