August Newslettetr

It has been awhile since the last update and the latest news is good. We are now #1 on the ReverbNation Blues chart for Central Kentucky. I am now looking for a label to produce the next CD. In the past couple of months, we have performed locally in Central Kentucky and at the infamous Brackin's Blues Club in Maryville, TN. On August 25th, we will be performing at the 23d annual Hot August Blues Festival in Hardin, Kentucky for approx. 7,000 people. It is held at the beautiful Kenlake State Park. This is in the heart of blues country between Memphis and St. Louis. I am also equally excited that two of my good musician friends from Michigan will be coming on down to do the show with me. Also, I have signed on with an online music store to do video performances of the guitars they are selling. I will also be doing some online guitar instruction for the company,(more about this in the next mailing). Until then,"THE BLUES IS ALRIGHT!" Lightnin' Rod

A new year is upon us. I hope all is well with you. We have had a great deal happening here, so let me begin.

Both "All American Blues" and "After The Storm" are listed on Billboard.com. We are also now getting airplay on superhits 247.com.

Our video, "Close To You" was featured on the NME First For Music site for January. This is an online magazine located in the U.K. And speaking of videos, "Sugar and Spice" is now on Pure Charts in France.

Recent stories about my music have been written in Music Scenes in Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, Indiana & Wisconsin. Stories have been printed about the recordings in several different languages(even though I have no idea what they are saying). Both CD's are available world wide via Amazon.com. I just recently became aware that my ringtones are available in Japan via Yahoo.

In October, I was chosen from over 12,000 musicians to receive a new amp cover and t-shirt from D2F covers. They put out a fine American-made product and I appreciate it greatly. I am now endorsing their products.

I have written 17 new songs and some of them have been demoed. We will take our time putting out a new project as we are looking for sponsors and label support.

You can see the music videos by going to YouTube and typing in Lightnin' Rod & The Thunderbolts. Also on YouTube we have recently added a few old videos from my Gospel Rock days. The video, "Can't Stop Rockin'", received a thousand views in the first week it was up.

I am still looking to fill some dates on the calendar this summer. If you know someone that might be interested in bringing us to your town send me an email for details.

Until next time, "The Blues Is Alright!"

Winter Newsletter

Greetings! I hope you are doing well during this very busy time of the year. I wanted to write a few lines to send you holiday greeting and say thank you for your friendship and support this past year. Perhaps you purchased a CD, or downloaded a song, came out to a gig, or called your local radio station to request a tune. We want you to know how much we appreciated it. In the latest news, we are still #3 on the ReverbNation Blues chart for central Kentucky. Songs from "After The Storm" and "All American Blues" continue to receive airplay around the country and around the world. Two weeks ago, I had surgery on my foot so I am presently trying to get used to using a wheelchair and crutches. I'm glad it's temporary and my surgeon says I should be good by the end of January. That said, even though I won't be playing live for awhile it has gave me more time to write. I have also completed demo tracks on five new songs. We are currently booking show for next year starting in the spring. If you know of any festival, fair, club, private engagement, etc., please contact us for info. And speaking of shows, we will be playing one of the largest Blues Festivals in Kentucky next summer.(More on this to come). Until next time we wish you a Merry Christmas and the very best for 2012.

FALL Newsletter

Hope this letter finds you well. We have went through alot of changes since our last letter. In August, we moved outside of Somerset, Kentucky on beautiful Lake Cumberland. We moved from Florida primarily to be closer to all our family that have also relocated near here. We will miss the great weather in Florida this winter and also all of our friends. I will especially miss the great musicians that I had an opportunity to share the stage with over the last couple of years. I do plan to go back to do a few shows there from time to time. I am just finishing up building a new recording studio with a beautiful view of the lake and mountains. It is truly a breathtaking sight with all the fall colors. We will soon be open for business, so please spread the word to those that may want to do some recording. I am also in the process of doing some pre-production work of some new songs that we will be recording after first of the year. I have now completed the writing process for a new project. The title I'm going to keep secret for now. If you are not a friend of mine on Facebook, why not take a moment right now and do so at Lightnin' Rod Wilson. Until next time, "The Blues Is Alright!" Lightnin' Rod P.S. Also thought you might like to know that we are #3 in Central Kentucky on the Reverbnation Blues Chart.

May Newsletter

Hi Everyone! Greetings from the Sunshine State! I hope by the time you read this everyone will be experiencing some spring weather. Well first things first, I am currently #13 in Central Florida on the Reverb Nation Chart, and I need your help to get into the top ten. If you could take a few minutes and go to Reverbnation.com and then go to our profile, "Lightnin' Rod & The Thunderbolts", then click on one of our songs, it will play while you are reading the profile, This adds points to us and the more plays and views, the more points it adds. It also helps when you do the same thing on our My Space page, myspace.com/lightninrod. It would really be appreciated and I will make sure to let you know the results. I have been busy putting the final pieces together and rehearsing with a new "Thunderbolts" band. Maybe, I'll call it the Florida Thunderbolts, or NOT! I will share more about this line up in my next letter. In the meantime, on April 17th I performed at Buzz Jam in Land O' Lakes, Florida where I shared the stage with Sarasota Slim(a fine guitarist) and the former bass player with the Jeff Healy band. It was a great night of blues on the waterfront. You can see pictures from this show on my Facebook page at Lightnin' Rod Wilson. As I mentioned in the last letter, I have written 13 new songs and I have started the demo process. We will also be doing a couple of them live with the new band. Hope all is well with you and your families, until next time...... The Blues Is Alright! Rod

February Newsletter

Hi Everyone! It's been awhile since you've heard from me. I hope all is well with you. I'm enjoying the winter here in Florida (mid to upper 70's all week). I have had the opportunity to play with some great musicians the past few weeks in the central Florida area. I will be performing Sunday, February 20th for an outdoor show at Lake Eva Park in Haines City. There will also be craft booths and food vendors on the grounds. On February 2nd I had the great honor to share the stage with Les Dudek. Les is a former member of The Allman Brothers Band. He co-wrote the instrumental"Jessica" and played on the classic "Ramblin' Man". He was also a member of the Steve Miller Band and has toured and recorded with Cher, Stevie Nicks, Boz Scaggs, and Steppenwolf. He is the finest guitarist that I have performed with. I have also recently performed with Hurricane Hawk and Roy Powers and The Last Exit Band. I have also been in the process of writing several new songs. I will demo them later this year, but I do not intend to release them for some time. On the leisure side, I plan to take in a few Detroit Tiger practices next week. A few months ago I got hip and started a Facebook page. I usually keep things current on there, so everyone can stay up to date with the latest news and photos. You can befriend me at Lightnin' Rod Wilson. Thanks to those who requested my music on your local radio stations. We are still sending out copies of "After The Storm" to stations that are requesting them. Drop us a line from time to time. Until then, God bless, The Blues Is Alright! Lightnin' Rod
